The best gambling options in the neighbourhood of Raiders' new headquarters in Henderson, Nevada

M Resort is one of the nicest, modern luxury casinos in Las Vegas that isn't on the Vegas Strip.

I’m a neurotic planner. You may have noticed this when I wrote about different casinos to stay and play at when the Oakland Raiders begin playing in Las Vegas in 2020. The city has broken ground and stadium construction is underway. However, there’s more news to report about the Raiders in Las Vegas.

The city of Henderson recently agreed to sell the Raiders 55 acres of land. When the deal is complete the Raiders are expected to build a practice facility and make this their headquarters. This will be more than just a place for the team to practice. There should be football action happening at the facility year round.

NFL team headquarters are usually where major announcements happen. When the Raiders announce free agent signings or new head coaches they will take place in the Henderson, NV headquarters. The most important thing about this facility is that construction could be complete before the actual stadium. We should see more Raiders events taking place in Henderson next year and definitely by 2020.

The land for the headquarters and practice facility will be near the southwest corner of Saint Rose Parkway and Executive Airport. The location might be meaningless unless you live or have lived in Las Vegas. The land is about 20 minutes south of the Vegas Strip. More specifically, the land is down the street from M Resort. It’s also about 10 minutes away from South Point Casino and a few more from Green Valley Ranch.

The Vegas Golden Knights practice at City National Arena across the street from Red Rock Casino in Summerlin. Many players live in that area and can be seen enjoying life in the suburb to the west of the Las Vegas Strip. The same should hold true for Raiders players in Henderson. The players should take up residence and spend most of their home downtime in the Henderson area.

Football fans should start learning about Henderson in case you want to go to practice, sneak into an announcement or stalk the local shops for players. Here's a quick look at the three major casinos in the area if you're a neurotic planner looking to build up equity (and players club points).

M Resort - This is one of the nicest, modern luxury casinos in Las Vegas that isn't on the Vegas Strip. It’s a great place to eat, drink and gamble. The casino is operated by Penn National Gaming which has casinos and racinos (horse tracks with a casino) in 18 states and Canada. If there’s a Penn National casino in your area you can earn points locally with the Marquee Rewards players club and use them at M Resort (or Tropicana if you prefer the Vegas Strip). CG Technologies operates the sportsbook should you want to place some wagers.

South Point - The “cowboy casino” has one of the best sportsbook operations in Las Vegas. In addition to some of the best odds, the large casino has great gambling and is the broadcast home to the VSiN (Vegas Sports and Information Network). You’ll often find show hosts like Brent Musburger and legendary bookmakers Jimmy Vaccaro and Chris Andrews milling around the casino. This is an independent casino and rewards only come from gambling at the property.

Green Valley Ranch - This is a unique property in Las Vegas. It legitimately feels as though you’re not in Las Vegas even though you’re only a quick ride from the action on the Vegas Strip. This Station Casinos property is popular for being a spa retreat as it is for being a casino. You’ll find good gambling in this casino as well some of the best sportsbook screens off the Vegas Strip. You can earn and use Boarding Pass players club points here or any other Station Casinos property.
