Monday Night Football’s meeting between the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins has the lowest total of the NFL Week 4 odds. That means a tight touchdown anytime market and less variance when it comes to potential scorers.
You have three front runners priced at +175 or shorter — Devon Achane, Tony Pollard, and Tyreek Hill — with the next names on the board sitting at +280 and higher.
I take a look at the makeup of this Monday Night matchup's NFL odds and uncover a player from each team worth a TD anytime wager with my NFL picks and predictions for Titans at Dolphins on September 30.
Tennessee Titans anytime touchdown pick
My best bet:
Josh Whyle Touchdown Anytime (+1,200 at FanDuel)
My analysis:
Josh Whyle is the second tight end on the Tennessee Titans’ depth chart and is coming off a big game in the blowout loss to Green Bay last week.
He played 46% of snaps — his highest count of the season — drawing five targets for four catches and 43 yards, outshining fellow TE Chigoziem Okonkwo.
New head coach Brian Callahan is running a lot of play-action for QB Will Levis, using the TEs in motion on the end to sell the run and then having them release downfield. Whyle will continue to be a viable option on offense against a decimated Miami Dolphins defense on Monday.
Miami is very thin at linebacker entering Week 4. David Long Jr. is doubtful and Bradley Chubb is still on IR, forcing the Fins to reach deep down the depth chart. That soft spot in the middle of the field has allowed rival tight ends to flourish.
The Dolphins gave up six catches on six targets to Seattle TE Noah Fant, who finished with 60 yards last Sunday. The week before, Buffalo TE Dalton Kincaid collected all four passes his way for 33 yards.
Not only can Whyle work his way into more action but he’s a huge end-zone target, standing at 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds. Levis loves to target his TEs in the end zone, having thrown scoring strikes to Okonkwo and Nick Vannett, and all three have one catch on one red-zone target this year.
Okonkwo is priced at +650, but Whyle could eat into his snaps and is worth a flyer to score a touchdown at almost double the payout.
Miami Dolphins anytime touchdown pick
My best bet:
Jaylen Waddle Touchdown Anytime (+280 at FanDuel)
My analysis:
It’s been too long since we got a penguin waddle touchdown celebration.
Jaylen Waddle hasn’t cracked the goal line since December 17 of last year, with the Dolphins’ disastrous QB situation not helping things in 2024. However, the Titans could be down a few bodies in the secondary and if this defense has shown any weaknesses, it’s been against the pass.
Heading into Monday, corner L'Jarius Sneed is questionable with a hamstring injury after being limited in practice on Saturday. That group is already down standout CB Chidobe Awuzie and may also be missing strong safety Amani Hooker (questionable).
The Titans’ new defense under Dennard Wilson runs a high rate of man coverage, which is something Waddle thrives against, and he’s the Dolphins' top target in terms of intermediate routes (10-19 yards), which we’ll see plenty of with backup QB Tyler Huntley making his first start in Mike McDaniel’s system.
Tyreek Hill will draw the ire of the Tennessee coverage, which could leave Waddle matched up against backup CBs on Monday. Hill’s deep threat could be a decoy, and Waddle is a more QB-friendly target for Huntley, for short catch-and-run receptions underneath.
