Week 4 NFL Teaser: Eagles Can Manage a Field Goal Dub Against Commanders

The Baltimore Ravens let us down last week, but Joe Osborne is turning to another set of birds as his favorite play in the NFL teaser market. See who else will join the Eagles as the top teaser plays for Week 4 action.

In Week 3, I was the one that was teased as my top teaser leg selection — the Baltimore Ravens — failed to take advantage of several opportunities to beat the Colts and take care of business. As a result, my teaser record moves to 1-2, but I like my chances of making things even this time around as there’s a handful of great teaser spots in the Week 4 odds.

Once again, my weekly reminder as to how this article works: I look through the NFL odds and rank my five favorite teaser legs of the week below, and the top two get paired together as my official teaser bet. I follow the basic teaser strategy of crossing as many key numbers as possible while never teasing through zero.

Let’s get into my NFL picks for Week 4 teaser action! Be sure to also check out Jason Logan's NFL Week 4 predictions!

Week 4 Teaser

Eagles (-8 to -2) vs Commanders

Sam Howell doesn’t have a chance. He’s been sacked a ridiculous 19 times this season and will be facing a Philadelphia Eagles pass rush that ranks second in pressure percentage.

That 35-point performance the Washington Commanders had in Denver will probably go down as an outlier when it's all said and done this season. They scored just three points on their home field last week, and in Week 1 vs. the Cardinals, they struggled to get to 20 points.

As for the Eagles, they’re getting better with each passing game. Some forget Philly had a significant turnover on its coaching staff with both the offensive and defensive coordinators taking head coaching jobs. Despite that, the Eagles are still off to a 3-0 start with their most impressive win coming in Week 3 where they smashed the Bucs by 14 and outgained them by 298 yards!

Don’t expect Philly to take the Commanders lightly either. Last November, Washington came to Philadelphia and shocked the Eagles, winning 32-21. Philly won the yards-per-play battle but played sloppy by turning the ball over four times. Expect a different result on Sunday.

Cowboys (-6.5 to -0.5) vs Patriots

A week ago at this time, some people had the Dallas Cowboys as the best team in the NFL, or at least a Top 3 team, but that all came crumbling down after a flabbergasting loss in Arizona as a double-digit favorite.

Things were coming too easy for Dallas — a 40-0 win over the Giants, followed by a 30-10 win vs. the incompetent Jets. The Cowboys were feeling themselves a bit too much and got bit, but they’ll bite back this week against the New England Patriots.

Biting back, or bouncing back, is something the Cowboys have excelled at the past two seasons. Since the start of the 2021 season, Dallas is an impressive 9-1 straight up and against the spread following a loss.

It was especially impressive in this spot last season, going 5-0 SU and ATS with an outright win as a 7-point underdog vs. the Bengals with Cooper Rush starting, an 18-point win over Detroit, a 37-point win in Minnesota, and a 17-point playoff win in Tampa Bay.

I expect a dominant defensive performance from Dallas against a Pats' offense that ranks 24th in yards per play and 26th in scoring. New England’s offensive line is struggling and will have its hands full with a Cowboys pass rush that’s fifth in pressure percentage with the second most sacks.

Best Week 4 teaser spots

  • Eagles (-8 to -2)
  • Cowboys (-6.5 to -0.5)
  • Ravens vs. Browns (+3 to +9)
  • Dolphins vs. Bills (+2.5 to +8.5)
  • Bears vs. Broncos (+3.5 to +9.5)

The Baltimore Ravens almost cracked my Top 2 again, but their injury report scared me off. Still, they’ve been an incredible bet as an underdog in recent seasons as they’re on a 19-3-1 ATS tear when getting points. They’ll face the Cleveland Browns who have struggled to get momentum going, playing to a 1-7 ATS record after a win since the start of last season.

Half of the games during the 1-7 slide were on Deshaun Watson’s watch, as he led the Browns to 10, 10, 14, and 22 points with all four games resulting in an outright loss.

It's quite possible the Miami Dolphins are the better team in their matchup with the Buffalo Bills. Getting them up to +8.5 is an excellent cushion for what looks like the most explosive offense in years.

Miami was very competitive in two games in Buffalo last season, losing both by just three points. Both games were played in winter conditions, and Skylar Thompson started in one of them. The Dolphins will be at full strength as Jaylen Waddle is expected back.

Why are the Denver Broncos favored by 3.5 vs. the Chicago Bears? Yes, they both stink, but the Bears are at home, and they’re actually not that much worse.

Chicago is dead last in net yards per play, but Denver is barely ahead at 31st. It can also be argued that the Bears have played the harder schedule as Denver somehow managed to lose on its home field against the Raiders and Commanders… and, oh yeah, it just allowed 70 points. I think this is a coin-flip game. Whoever wins, it won’t be by much.

Best of luck in Week 4, especially if you’re tailing me! See you back here again next week where hopefully I’ll be celebrating a winning week!
