Blackhawks vs Oilers odds

Blackhawks vs Oilers predictions

Taking the Under in an Edmonton Oilers game is always a daunting task, but this spot creates a good opportunity to do so at plus money. Yes, the Oilers possess perhaps the best offense in hockey, but they will be going against a hot goaltender in Petr Mrazek.

Mrazek has been one of the Chicago Blackhawks' best players this season, posting a .912 SV% and 3.03 GAA through 16 appearances in the crease. Entering this contest in particularly good form, Mrazek boasts a .987 SV% and 0.50 GAA over his past two starts.

There were four or fewer total goals scored in each of those two outings, which is buoyed by the fact that the Hawks rank 28th in the league in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) at 5-on-5.

That brings us to the Oilers’ defensive efforts, which are often criminally underrated. At 5-on-5, Edmonton ranks seventh in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60).

Backing up this blue line is goaltender Stuart Skinner, who has been spectacular during this winning streak. Over his past six starts, Skinner is 6-0 with a .932 SV% and 1.82 GAA.

We have seen some low-scoring games over that stretch, including Edmonton’s shutout dub over the Capitals and a 3-1 win over the Jets. It's not far-fetched to expect a similar result tonight.

Blackhawks vs Oilers same-game parlay

Under 6.5

Oilers moneyline

Yes, -500 may seem like an egregious price tag, but these two teams are playing on opposite levels right now.

Edmonton’s seven-game win streak is an all-around effort as it is playing well in all three zones. At 5-on-5, the Oilers rank first in expected goal differential per 60 minutes, and they are also getting exceptional goaltending from Skinner.

While Mrazek has also been solid between the pipes for Chicago, the play in front of him hasn't been pretty. At 5-on-5, the Hawks rank second-to-last in expected goal differential per 60 minutes.

Blackhawks vs Oilers moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Oilers opened at -400 and have since been bet up to the five-dollar mark. Again, a wild price tag, but there is simply not a single thing that the Hawks do better than Edmonton.

That brings us to the total, which opened at 6.5 and remains at that number. There are a couple of sevens out there and given the heavy juice on the Over at 6.5, I would not be shocked if this number gets bumped up.

With that said, given the play of both Mrazek and Skinner, I do think this game can be kept relatively low-scoring given how bad Chicago is offensively.
