The Arizona Coyotes vs. Ottawa Senators is the lone matchup in the NHL tonight. They might not be the most exciting teams, but there is incredible value on the Coyotes — we’re leaning toward the road underdogs.
The ‘Yotes have been on their best stretch of the season, going 4-1-0 SU in their last five games. They have been scoring at will and are looking to ride this offensive momentum into Ottawa.
Can the Sens avenge their 8-5 loss against the Coyotes back on March 5? Let's go deeper with our free NHL betting picks and predictions for Monday.

Coyotes vs Senators picks and predictions
Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Moneyline
The Arizona Coyotes have looked like a completely different team over the course of their last five games. They were the worst team in the league for the entire season, posting a straight-up record of 18-36-4, but have won four of their last five. Nick Schmaltz has been on an absolute tear during this stretch as he has tallied five goals and nine assists for 14 points. Not only is Schmaltz on fire, but the Coyotes offense as a whole has been buzzing, scoring 26 goals in that five-game span.
The Sens haven’t been all that great this season, either. They are 7th in the Atlantic Division with a record of 21-32-5 and they are 2-3-0 in their last five games. The Sens have struggled to find a groove on offense, but they've missed the presence of their young stud, Drake Batherson, who has missed a ton of time due to injury. Batherson was the team's leading scorer before he got hurt and was the only player on the roster averaging more than a point per game.
Both teams have been finding ways to score goals of late, but the Sens haven’t had as much luck in the win column. The last time these teams met, on March 5, it was an absolute barn burner. The ‘Yotes bested the Sens 8-5, but it was an evenly played game despite the lopsided final. Ottawa peppered Scott Wedgewood with 46 shots, but he had a very strong performance making 41 saves. That said, the ‘Yotes did have more expected goals, but not by much as the count was 3.94 to 3.9.
Arizona’s goaltending should have the edge tonight. Karel Vejmelka is expected to get the nod for the ‘Yotes and he's been excellent in his last three starts, going 2-0-1 while stopping 105 of 111 shots. His overall record is not great at 9-22-1 with a .905 save percentage and a -7.5 goals saved above expected, but he's been much sharper in recent outings.
Anton Forsberg should be the starter for the Sens tonight and in his last three starts he is 2-1-0 and has allowed 10 goals on 84 shots. Forsberg’s record might be better than Vejmelka's (13-11-2), but he hasn’t been the superior netminder lately.
I’m going to ride the team with the hot goalie and the team that has been scoring on command. I think the ‘Yotes are the better team right now in this matchup.
Prediction: Coyotes moneyline (+130)
Over/Under analysis
Neither the Sens nor the Coyotes have been particularly impressive on offense this season on the whole. The Sens are averaging 2.64 goals per game on 29.9 shots while Arizona is tallying 2.53 gpg on 26.1 shots. However, those overall numbers do not reflect their vaunted offensive production in recent games.
As previously stated, the Coyotes have scored 26 goals in their last five. In the same span, the Sens have scored 17 goals, so it’s not as if they are struggling in the offensive end.
Both teams also rank in the bottom half of the league defensively. The Sens are allowing 3.24 gpg while giving up 33.7 shots on goal and Arizona gives up 3.55 gpg while facing 35.0 shots on goal.
Considering the fact that neither team has elite goaltending and that they're both struggling mightily in their defensive ends, I expect them to continue their offensive success and provide a ton of goals tonight. I’m going with the Over.
Prediction: Over 6 (-105)
Best bet
Arizona has beaten some of the league’s best teams recently like the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche. I’m not sure what took them so long, but it seems like things are finally starting to come together for this young group for whatever reasons. Arizona has a more skilled forward group with guys like Clayton Keller, Schmaltz, and Phil Kessel, so they will look to those key players to continue to carry the momentum they’ve found.
The Sens have not been able to find much success lately as they are 3-7-0 in their previous 10 games. Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle lead the way for the Sens and they’re good players, but the Sens need some more help producing offensively. Josh Norris has contributed, but he has also been recovering from an injury.
This game should be a back-and-forth affair. I don’t expect much of a defensive battle, but the young talented forwards on both sides are going to have success. That being said, Arizona has been the better team and will have the edge tonight. I like the Coyotes to win outright.
