It’s a loaded slate on the ice with a dozen games, and our top NHL player props have you covered for the action.

All eyes will be on the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the Edmonton Oilers in the marquee matchup, and I’m also eyeing the Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens contest at the Bell Centre for two more of my best NHL picks for Tuesday, February 25.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Leon Draisaitl Over 2.5 shots (-135 at DraftKings)

While Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl has found the back of the net in consecutive games out of the 4 Nations Face-Off pause, he’s only racked up three shots on nine attempts.

He'll up the ante in both columns tonight, with the Tampa Bay Lightning sporting a middling 49.8 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 and allowing a healthy 28.8 shots per game.

Draisaitl had three or more shots in 22 of 28 games before the recent lull, and he sports a top-tier 58.8 CF% at 5-on-5 while ranking in the 98th percentile of forwards in shots on goal.

Sam Montembeault Over 26.5 saves (-110 at DraftKings)

The Carolina Hurricanes pace the league in 5-on-5 attempts per 60 minutes (71.12) and rank second in shots per game (31.9), so I’m anticipating Montreal Canadiens starter Sam Montembeault to see oodles of rubber tonight.

Montreal allows the seventh-most attempts per 60 at 5-on-5 (60.65) while also surrendering a healthy 29.1 shots per game. Additionally, the 5-on-5 possession numbers tilt tremendously to Carolina, with the Hurricanes sporting a top-ranked 59.3 Corsi For percentage, and the Habs at 22nd with a 48.6% mark.

Montembeault was also solid in his return from the 4 Nations Face-Off and stopped 25 of 27 shots in a 5-2 road win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. He sports a respectable .903 save percentage, 2.87 GAA, and 0.28 goals saved above average per 60 minutes on home ice for the season, too.

Andrei Svechnikov Over 2.5 shots on goal (+100 at bet365)

Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov has three or more shots in four of his past six games for 19 total on 34 attempts. He paces the club in shots and attempts per 60 minutes and also sports a high-end 58.7 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5.

Add ranking in the 93rd percentile of forwards in shots on goal, and I’m bullish about Svechnikov taking advantage of this favorable matchup against the Canadiens.

As noted, the Habs surrender plenty of shots and don’t drive 5-on-5 possession, and Montreal has also allowed the third-most shots per game to opposing wingers (11.63).
