Favorite to win the Rocket Richard Trophy
4/24/2024: Auston Matthews was so far ahead these odds were taken off the board a month before the season even ended. AM34 won't have to wait until June to found he's won, and all of his attention will now be on winning his team the Stanley Cup.
Previous Rocket Richard betting action
3/27/2024: That's all folks. With a handful of games left in the regular seasons, booked have decided to take down the odds as Matthews has an eight-goal lead that would take a miracle to overcome. Hyman and Reinhart have 51 apiece but there isn't enough time left in the season to stop AM34 from capturing his third Rocket Richard in four years.
3/12/2024: Matthews may be in a scoring rut by his standards, but his monster run still has him at -8,000 to win the Rocket Richard. Sam Reinhart, who has the second-most goals with 45, is still +4,000. A new face entered the Top 5 in Zach Hyman, but it's unlikely he'll bat in enough goals to catch up to AM34 by season's end.
2/27/2024: There's good, and then there's Auston Matthews. AM34 has been a menace to netminders all season long, and the most recent streak has shortened his odds from -330 to -8,000 at DraftKings. His lead has grown so big, some books have taken the market down altogether. Sam Reinhart lasted as long as he could, but it seems only injuries could stop Matthews from claiming yet another Rocket Richard Trophy.
2/13/2024: Sam Reinhart is still hanging tough with Auston Matthews, with his shortening from +850 to +500. Unfortunately for him, Matthews' odds are also shortening. AM34 may only be three goals ahead of Reinhart, but he also has two games in hand. This has essentially become a two-man race with Nikita Kucherov and David Pastrnak falling behind. Both Kuch and Pasta can heat up at any moment, but we'll have to see it first before odds become any closer.
1/30/2024: Give credit where it's due. Sam Reinhart is keeping things interesting as we head into February, but Auston Matthews is on pace for 71 goals, and Reinhart has already passed his career high of 33. Matthews can keep this up all season long, but whether or not Sam can is yet to be seen. If you like his chances to, +850 is a pretty damn good price.
1/16/2024: As Matthews continues to score at a torrid pace, his odds continue to shorten. The Leafs' go-to scorer is now as short as -250 to take home his third Rocket Richard Trophy in four years. Another player that has seen significant movement however is Sam Reinhart, whose odds shortened from +3,000 to +700 over the last two weeks. The Florida sniper has scored in seven straight games and now sits just one goal back of AM34 for the league lead.
1/2/2024: A career year for some was a "down" year for Auston Matthews last season, but AM34 has bounced back and leads both the NHL in goals and the Rocket Richard odds (-105). Matthews' 29 tallies put him three ahead of Nikita Kucherov (+700) with David Patrnak (+400) currently out of the Top 5 in goals scored. We've seen just how elite of a scorer Matthews is, and it'll take a big effort to try and keep up with him as the season marches on.
12/12/2023: Auston Matthews (+190) is still the man to surpass for the Rocket Richard, with the market continuing to peg him as a heavy favorite. Matthews and Nikita Kucherov (+800) are tied for the league lead with 19 tallies although Kucherov's odds are much longer. Rounding out the Top 3 is still David Pastrnak (+380) and Connor McDavid (+700), although the latter has plenty of ground to make up.
11/28/2023: The top spot on the Rocket Richard board remains the same with Auston Matthews (+200) still going strong. Meanwhile, David Pastrnak (+450) has taken over the No. 2 spot while Brock Boeser has fallen out of the Top 10. Connor McDavid (+650) and Leon Draisaitl (+600) still occupy the third and fourth slots.
11/14/2023: Auston remains (+125) remains the favorite to capture the Rocket Richard with 13 goals in 15 games. He currently has a one-goal lead over Brock Boeser, with David Pastrnak (+500) sitting at 10. Connor McDavid — who opened the season as the favorite — now sits in fourth as his teammate Leon Draisaitl (+550) passed him on the odds board.
10/31/2023: You know what back-to-back hat tricks get you? First place on the Rocket Richard odds board! Auston Matthews is now the clear-cut favorite and currently sits with seven goals through eight games. Another new face added to the board is Alex Debrincat (+1,600) after his hot start in Detroit.
10/10/2023: Familiar faces are atop the board to start the season with Connor McDavid favored to win his second-straight Rocket Richard. next to him near the top are Auston Matthews and David Pastrnka, as well as his running mate Leon Draisaitl.

Understanding NHL Rocket Richard odds
Most sportsbooks will display odds in the American format as listed above. When the regular season is nearly finished and a consensus has emerged, you might see a player with a minus sign (-) ahead of his odds, like this:
- Auston Matthews -400
The (-) means that Matthews is the odds-on favorite, and a bettor would need to wager $400 to win $100. Other contenders in the Rocket Richard race might have plus (+) odds to win.
- Nathan MacKinnon +650
Here, a bettor stood to profit $650 for every $100 wagered on MacKinnon to lead the league in goals.
If American odds aren't your thing, simply use a tool like our odds converter to switch the odds to decimal or fractional format. Most online sportsbooks also give you the option to change the odds format that you see.
