Flames vs Sharks Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

The Calgary Flames are four points back of the St. Louis Blues for the final Wild Card spot, but remain very much alive. They have two games in hand on the Blues, one of which they’ll play at home against one of the league’s worst teams.

My Sharks vs. Flames predictions see Calgary taking full advantage, with veteran Nazem Kadri leading the charge once again. Let’s dive deeper into my April 13 NHL picks.

My Flames pick: Nazem Kadri anytime goalscorer (+135 at BET99)

My Flames analysis
Nazem Kadri is having one of the best offensive seasons of his great career. He's scored 32 times thus far, which has already tied a career-high with a few games remaining on the schedule.

Many of those goals have come on home soil, where Kadri has found the back of the net in a whopping 44% of his games, including seven of the last 10.

He's scored nine goals over that span, one of which came against these same San Jose Sharks. He's upping his productivity at a time the Flames need it most. He's in a great matchup to stay hot against the Sharks. They continue to defend horribly, sitting 31st in shot suppression over their last 10 games.

The Sharks have arguably the worst goaltending tandem in the NHL. It’s a recipe for disaster, making it no surprise they’ve conceded 46 goals in that span. The Sharks don’t get nearly enough saves to mask all the defensive miscues made on a nightly basis.

Kadri is routinely playing 20+ minutes and piling up the shots and scoring chances as Calgary’s go-to scoring threat. He's Calgary’s leading goalscorer and has Stanley Cup pedigree. He won’t shy away from the big moment and is as likely as anybody to come through in another massive game for his club.

Jonathan Huberdeau is playing on Kadri’s wing at 5-on-5 and skating on the same power-play unit. He's attached to the hip of the team’s best finisher. 

While Huberdeau hasn’t picked up an assist since March 27 against the Stars, he still leads Flames forwards in assists and is one of the best playmakers on the roster. If Kadri is to find the back of the net, there’s a pretty good chance the goal stems from a Huberdeau pass.

Rounding out the parlay is a bet on the Flames to claim another two points in their quest to steal a Wild Card spot. Calgary owns a solid 21-12-6 record on home soil this season while San Jose has performed miserably on the road, winning just eight times through 39 tries.

The Flames also have a massive edge in net. Dustin Wolf has been a Top-15 starter this season while Alexandar Georgiev has struggled all year. The former Avalanche netminder has posted an .872 SV%, 3.43 GAA, and ranks dead last in goals saved above expected (-22.3).
