Flames vs Kings Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight's NHL Game

The Flames' Jonathan Huberdeau should be able to hold his own and have a productive evening vs. the stingy Kings, per Quinn Allen's NHL betting picks for Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Kings hit the road to visit the Calgary Flames tonight for a Pacific Division clash at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Jonathan Huberdeau has been playing well this season, and I’m expecting him to generate some opportunities in my Flames vs. Kings predictions.

Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for Saturday, January 11.

Flames vs Kings prediction

My Flames pick
Jonathan Huberdeau Over 1.5 shots on goal (-155 at BET99)

My Flames analysis
Calgary Flames fans haven’t been too pleased with the production out of Jonathan Huberdeau since the blockbuster trade that brought him to Alberta a few seasons ago. However, he is playing much better in 2024-25 and has been a big part of the Flames’ respectable 19-14-7 start.

Huberdeau leads the team with 30 points, scoring 17 goals and tallying 13 assists. He’s registered an average of 1.8 shots on goal per game this season and there’s reason to believe he’ll be busy tonight.

The 31-year-old has hit the Over in SOG in back-to-back games, tallying four shots on target against the Ducks earlier this week and three against the Predators a few days before that. He’s cashed the Over in SOG in 10 of the last 14 contests.

The last time Huberdeau faced the Los Angeles Kings, he also had two shots on net. Yes, L.A. allows the fewest SOG in the entire NHL, but I don’t think it will be difficult for Huberdeau to get Over 1.5 at home.

Flames vs Kings same-game parlay (SGP)

Jonathan Huberdeau Over 1.5 shots on goal

Mikael Backlund anytime goal

Over 4.5

Mikael Backlund isn’t a huge producer for the Flames, but he’s still scored eight goals and supplied 10 assists this season. The reason I’m eyeing this bet is because Backlund was a key figure in Calgary’s last meeting with L.A., scoring and assisting another goal.

Also, he had two points against the Kings last season (one goal, and one assist). Six of his goals in 2024-25 have come at home, too.

We’re looking at two teams who are both quite solid defensively, but I’m eyeing Over 4.5 as an alternate total. Four of the last five meetings have cashed this Over easily. For what it’s worth, three of Calgary’s last four home games have hit the Over in goals as well.

The Kings have won five in a row while Calgary is playing respectable hockey as well. I think you’ll see a competitive matchup tonight with no shortage of offense, or at least enough to hit the five-goal mark.
