Jets vs Lightning Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

The Jets are unbelievable. They won't keep winning at this clip, but as long as they maintain excellent goaltending, tight defense, and a strong enough attack, they will win more often than not, including tonight.

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, November 14 at Amalie Arena and the NHL odds have the home team as a -119 favorite.

Winnipeg leads the league with a nearly perfect 15-1 record, and my Jets vs. Lightning predictions believe that this domination will continue tonight.

Read on for my full NHL picks ahead of the puck drop at 7 p.m. ET on TSN3.

My Jets analysis

Oddsmakers are expecting the Winnipeg Jets to cool down eventually, and they will. However, until they actually do, I’m not going to pass up the opportunity to bet on them at plus money against a clearly inferior team.

No matter how you cut this matchup, Winnipeg possesses every single advantage outside of home ice. And, to that point, the Jets are a spotless 7-0 on the road while the Tampa Bay Lightning are 4-2 at Amalie Arena.

Meanwhile, the goaltending edge goes to the team with the reigning Vezina Trophy winner. Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck carries a 12-1 record with a .934 SV% and 1.92 GAA through 13 starts.

Hellebuyck paces Andrei Vasilevskiy, who is slated to guard the cage for Tampa, in each of those categories.

To be fair, the former’s job is easier considering that the Jets rank second in xGA/60. Vasilevskiy, on the other hand, sits behind a defense that ranks 24th in the same category.

That just leaves the offense, which is yet another advantage for Winnipeg. The Jets are generating 3.18 xGF/60, while the Bolts trail at 3.04

Jets vs Lightning Over/Under analysis

Winnipeg isn’t going to maintain a 93.8% win percentage throughout the rest of the campaign... obviously. Books are expecting regression to come to fruition, which is why Tampa opened up as a -119 favorite and is holding steady at that price.

Both teams rank in the Top 8 in goals scored per game and, subsequently, this total sits at 6.0 and is more likely to move to 6.5 rather than in the opposite direction.
