Kings vs Predators Picks and Predictions: Nashville Finally Finds Offensive Groove

Nashville picked up two wins during the Global Series but is yet to win a game this season on North American soil. Facing a Kings team that's prone to high-scoring games, our NHL betting picks predict the Preds to break through offensively.

The Los Angeles Kings had a hard-fought win on the road last night, beating the Detroit Red Wings 5-4 in overtime thanks to the heroics of Phillip Danault.

The Nashville Predators had a great start to their season winning both games in the Global Series, but they still haven’t found a way to win a game in North America.

L.A. is playing its second half of a back-to-back and fourth game in six nights, so can the Preds take advantage of that and get their first win at home? Find out in our NHL betting picks and predictions for Kings vs. Predators.

Kings vs Predators best odds

Kings vs Predators picks and predictions

The Nashville Predators have struggled to score goals in their last two games — netting just two combined — but the Kings are having quite the opposite issue. They can put the puck in the net but they can't keep it out.

L.A. has allowed 18 goals in its last four games and its goaltending has not been very helpful. Jonathan Quick started in last night’s game so it is likely that Cal Peterson will get the nod tonight. Peterson won his only start of the season thus far, but it was not a very pretty performance. He allowed six goals on 35 shots and skated to .829 SV% along with a -2.8 GSAx.

The Preds may be struggling offensively right now, but the Kings might be the perfect opponent in order to get out of the funk. Nashville has a good amount of skill offensively, it just needs its big guns to get going. Nino Niederreiter has been a great addition, sitting with four goals in as many games, but Nashville needs Matt Duchene and Filip Forsberg to get going.

I think this could be the night where the Predators hit a groove offensively. L.A. has been winning games, but it hasn't really looked complete. Juuse Saros hasn’t had the best start to the season in goal, but I will take him 10 times out of 10 going up against Peterson.

I think the Predators will win this one in regulation.

Kings vs Predators moneyline analysis

These teams met three different times last season with the Predators winning twice.

The Kings have been a complete dumpster fire in their defensive end and it is only a matter of time until it catches up to them. They are currently allowing 4.50 goals against per game and they rank as the third-worst team in high-danger chances against.

Nashville has had two solid days of rest which will give it a slight advantage over what I imagine is a very tired Los Angeles team. This feels like a great opportunity for the Predators to explode offensively and get themselves going or perhaps a game that Juuse Saros can steal. I have a strong feeling about Nashville who is due for a win at home.

Kings vs Predators Over/Under analysis

The goaltenders between the two of these teams have not been at their best early on in the campaign. The Over has hit in three of the four games that the Kings have played thus far, but it hasn’t hit once in any of Nashville’s previous outings — so some may say it's due to hit an Over.

Even though the Kings have allowed a plethora of goals this season, they are still scoring nearly as much as their opponents. They have sixteen goals through their first four games and they rank sixth in high-danger chances for.

The Preds haven’t been as good in the offensive end but they definitely have the ability to be. Like I said previously, this game is the perfect opportunity to see Nashville’s forwards break out and find some offensive production. I like this one to go Over.
