There weren’t many stacks hitting last night but we did win +2.5 units here yesterday thanks to a very profitable second line in Dallas. Today is a bigger slate with some great spots to get some linemate points.
These are my three favorite NHL player props for Tuesday, April 1.
NHL player prop bets today
Coronato + Huberdeau + Frost o0.5 points each (+475 at bet365)
McLeod + Quinn o0.5 points each (+375 at bet365)
Colangelo + Zegras + McTavish o0.5 points each (+450 at bet365)
Best NHL player prop bets for April 1
Matt Coronato + Jonathan Huberdeau + Morgan Frost Over 0.5 points each (+475 at bet365)
The Matt Coronato, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Morgan Frost combo is a top line and PP1 correlated stack with the Flames, who are somehow +160 moneyline underdogs. Yes, it’s a tough schedule spot for them after a 3-2 shootout win in Colorado last night, but that could lead to a higher-scoring game and the Flames being forced to run this first line more with their playoffs lives on the line.
Utah is still riding Karel Vejmelka too hard, as the goalie has now played in 17 straight games, which is a throwback to pre-2000s goalie usage. It’s not surprising that his play is declining with a .858 SV% over his last five games despite a 2-2-1 record.
The top line in Calgary could be playing big minutes with possible negative game script, and this is a big price.
Ryan McLeod + Jack Quinn Over 0.5 points each (+375 at bet365)
This has become my favorite second-line PP2 stack in hockey. These guys aren’t seeing just 15 minutes of ice time, either, they are playing 16 to 19 minutes a game right now for a Buffalo team playing in shootouts and evaluating the younger talent.
Ryan McLeod is on the list of former Oilers who are looking much better away from Edmonton. He has nine points over his last five games, while Jack Quinn has put up back-to-back three-point games and has pointed in four straight. If you add linemate JJ Peterka (PP1), that runs this up to +650.
I think the best way to play this is .75u on the double and 0.25 on the triple. It’s not the best matchup vs. Linus Ullmark, but that is priced in.
Sam Colangelo + Trevor Zegras + Mason McTavish Over 0.5 points each (+450 at bet365)
I love it when books give us point markets on players that complete the stack. Sam Colangelo plays all his minutes with Trevor Zegras and Mason McTavish at 5-on-5 and on the power play. Their PP with Jackson Lacombe is the better extra-man unit by far.
At 5-on-5, this line also played the most minutes in the last game vs. Toronto, and all three played nearly 18 minutes or more.
Their opponents are the Sharks, who are getting wiped by everyone. I mean, Anaheim is a -190 favorite today. That’s how bad things are for San Jose.
