Golden Knights vs Wild Prediction, Picks & Odds for Thursday’s NHL Playoffs Game 3

The Vegas Golden Knights haven't looked like themselves with stale production as of late, but with the series headed on the road they have the opportunity to bring themselves back to life to try and take a 2-1 lead over the Minnesota Wild.

Mark Stone set a new career high during the regular season with 67 points in 66 games. He’s yet to hit the scoresheet in this series, though.

My Golden Knights vs. Wild predictions expect that to change in Game 3, with Stone helping lead the charge in a winning effort on the road.

Let’s break things down further with my Thursday, April 24 NHL picks.

Who will win Golden Knights vs Wild Game 3?

The Wild have generated just 37 shots through two games. Regardless of how competitive they are without the puck, it’s going to be tough to win against a team like the Golden Knights with such low volume.

Look for the Golden Knights – led by their big guns, who’ve been abnormally quiet this far – to reclaim their series lead on the road.

Golden Knights vs Wild prediction

My Golden Knights vs Wild pick: Mark Stone Over 0.5 points (-120 at BET99)

Vegas’ top line has not been anywhere close to its best through two games. Even so, they have had opportunities to produce – especially Mark Stone.

Stone has recorded four Grade A scoring chances at five-on-five, which is tied for most among all players in the series.

As a group, the Vegas Golden Knights have generated 38 shot attempts and 10 scoring chances with Stone on the ice in that game state but none have found their way to the back of the net.

Making matters worse is the Knights have had only one power play opportunity in the series. Stone has gotten next to no run in man-advantage situations to produce offense.

While the Minnesota Wild were one of the more disciplined teams during the regular season, they still took well over two minors per game. It certainly seems a stretch to expect them to continue avoiding penalties to the extent they have thus far.

When that happens, the floodgates could open for Stone and the Golden Knights. Stone missed a healthy chunk of games during the regular season and still ranked second on the team in power play points.

He is a big weapon on the man advantage – and, statistically speaking, more extra-man opportunities will be coming. The Wild can’t entirely avoid penalties forever.

Factor in the inevitable increase in PP time with his strong high-danger chance generation at even-strength and there should be plenty of chances for Stone to hit the scoresheet.

Until a couple of weeks ago his longest point drought of the entire season was three games. He’s currently sitting on a streak of five straight zeros.

Expect him to break that in Game 3.

Golden Knights vs Wild same-game parlay (SGP)

Mark Stone Over 0.5 points

Zeev Buium Under 0.5 points

Vegas Golden Knights moneyline

Zeev Buium is a talented young player who has a very bright future in front of him. Head coach John Hynes understandably has him on a leash right now, though, as he gets his first taste of professional hockey at the highest level.

Buium has played just 26 minutes through two games, which is more than only Zach Bogosian on the back end.

The Wild have been severely out shot and out chanced during his minutes and he hasn’t made much happen individually, generating just one shot on goal thus far.

Still adapting to the speed and physicality of the NHL game, and facing off against one of the best defensive teams in the league, it’s going to be tough for him to produce.

Rounding out the parlay is a bet on the Golden Knights to take back home ice. They have outshot the Wild 55-36 at five-on-five through two games, which is concerning for the Wild as the Golden Knights should also have the special teams advantage.

The Wild’s top line make up the only three players on the team with a positive shot differential, which is probably not a recipe for success moving forward.
