The Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants are set for the third of a four-game series Wednesday night at Oracle Park.
It’s expected to be a pitcher’s duel between Freddy Peralta and Logan Webb. I select my favorite player prop for one of these talented hurlers with my Brewers vs. Giants predictions and MLB picks for Wednesday, April 23.
Brewers vs Giants prediction
My Brewers vs Giants best bet: Freddy Peralta Over 16.5 outs recorded (-125 at DraftKings)
Freddy Peralta has been a model of consistency for the Milwaukee Brewers, holding an ERA below 4.00 in each of the last five seasons.
The 28-year-old has leveled his game up in 2025, holding a 1.91 ERA and 2.51 xERA through 28 1/3 innings. He’s added a mile per hour to his patented heater while remaining effective elsewhere.
The Dominican successfully limits hard contact (77th percentile hard-hit rate) while generating swings and misses (92nd percentile whiff rate). He controls an 84th percentile xBA (.199) and gets positive results from his four-seamer, changeup, and curveball.
There’s a lot to like about Peralta's profile going forward. Although this is a road matchup on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants, it comes in pitcher-friendly Oracle Park with cool temps in the mid-50s.
Brian Walsh is the umpire, and he can also be described as pitcher-friendly, meaning the environment is ripe for a successful day at the office for Peralta.
The starting pitcher’s strikeout prop is set at 5.5, but the Over has significant juice (-160). Playing his alternative strikeout prop of Over 6.5 for +125 odds is worth a look, but also involves more risk than I have in mind for my best bet of Peralta Over 16.5 outs recorded.
Logan Webb is on the bump for San Francisco, and Milwaukee will therefore need Peralta on his “A” game to go ace-for-ace with the home team.
The environment at Oracle Park is friendly for a pitcher’s duel, and Peralta has been superb thus far in 2025, so here’s betting on a prolonged day of work from the Brewers' workhorse.
Brewers vs Giants same-game parlay (SGP)
Freddy Peralta Over 16.5 outs recorded
Freddy Peralta Over 6.5 strikeouts
Logan Webb Over 18.5 outs recorded
Why not stick with the theme of a pitcher’s duel?
Both starters rank Top 20 in Stuff+ as Webb (106) is only narrowly ahead of Peralta (105). That could lead to an Under, although books are wise to the chase and have priced the total down at 6.5. But there’s still value to be had in the player prop market, which is where my vision lies.
Webb is fresh off a 12-strikeout, no-walk performance against the Angels and carries a 2.73 xERA and 1.63 FIP into today’s meetings.
Perhaps the most impressive thing about those numbers is that four of his five starts have occurred on the road. He’s typically been much more effective at home in his career with a 2.73 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 2.69 FIP across 438 1/3 innings.
Peralta has a healthy 16.6% swinging strike rate and stands to benefit against a San Francisco lineup that has a 23% K rate against RHP.
