The NHL Playoffs resume on three fronts Wednesday, and there's no shortage of NHL player props to choose from.
In Washington, the Caps are trying to hold court in Game 2 with Montreal, while the scene shifts from Dallas to Colorado with the series tied 1-1. And after a wild opener in L.A., what do the Oilers and Kings have in store for Game 2?
My NHL picks stick with the heavy hitters in each series, as we’ve pieced together a same-game parlay for your betting consideration.
Today's best NHL Playoffs parlay: April 23
Pick #1: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 points
It took 40 minutes for Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid to shake the rust off from recent injuries and get back to his dominant self.
He scored a goal and picked up three assists — all high-level, table-setting tap-in markers — helping Edmonton wipe out a four-goal deficit, but it still wasn’t enough as the Los Angeles Kings won 6-5.
McDavid has lit the Kings on fire in the playoffs, with 40 points in 19 career games. Of those games, he’s scored at least two points in 14 of them and has only been held off the scoresheet entirely twice.
He should again be a force that will put up points in this fourth-straight Round 1 matchup between these franchises.
Pick #2: Nathan MacKinnon Over 3.5 shots
The Colorado Avalanche were one goal away from coming back to the Rockies with a 2-0 series lead. Instead, a Colin Blackwell overtime winner has tied this series with Games 3 and 4 in Colorado.
Nathan MacKinnon has been as advertised thus far, picking up three goals and four points across the first two games. His formula has been pretty basic: get pucks to the net. He’s taken 11 shots over the first two games, and his line is set at 3.5 shots on Wednesday.
He’s used to getting rubber on the Dallas Stars net: in his last 12 regular-season games against the Stars, MacKinnon has topped his 3.5-shot line in 11 of them, missing the 12th by a single shot. He should maintain his offensive activity back at home in Game 3.
Pick #3: Alex Ovechkin anytime goalscorer
Let’s wrap this SGP with the NHL’s most prolific goal scorer, Alex Ovechkin, who happened to pot his first career playoff OT goal in Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens, part of a two-goal effort.
Ovechkin now has 74 career playoff goals, and he’s on quite a tear, with goals in 11 of his last 16 games, a total of 13 tallies, without going goalless in back-to-back games during this streak.
Including Game 1, he now has 14 goals in the last 16 games against the Habs. Let's back him to light the lamp again in Game 2.
