Oilers vs Golden Knights Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

With both sides missing a lot of firepower in their lineups, expect the trend of a low-scoring affair to continue between the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights with much at stake in this divisional showdown.

We have a massive 10-game slate ahead of us Tuesday night, with a high-stakes divisional clash between Edmonton and Vegas standing out as one of the best.

My Oilers vs. Golden Knights predictions see a tight, lower scoring game in the cards with both sides missing key weapons.

Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for April 1.

Oilers vs Golden Knights prediction

My Oilers pick: Under 6.5 (-120 at BET99)

My Oilers analysis
The Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights tend to play in lower scoring, lower event games than the market anticipates.

Four of the past five head-to-head meetings have featured six goals or less while just three of the last 10 have cleared the pre-game total.

That should be the case once again in this game. Vegas has played lights out defensively, allowing fewer expected goals than all but Los Angeles over the last 10 while conceding just 20 times along the way.

It’ll be difficult for the Oilers to break through and pile up the goals against such a strong defensive team without superstar Connor McDavid in the lineup.

The Golden Knights are missing plenty of firepower as well. Tomas Hertl, who leads the team in goals per game, is sidelined with an injury.

Alex Pietrangelo – an excellent puck mover who consistently produces 40-50 points per season – is still banged up and a real question mark to play in this game.

There are a lot of key weapons missing, which will make it harder for both teams to find the back of the net.

Not to mention, there is a lot riding on this game. The Golden Knights are trying to put the Pacific Division to bed and earn the opportunity to give some key players rest before the playoffs begin.

Meanwhile, the Oilers are in a back-and forth battle with the Kings to try and grab home ice for their first round series.

This should be a competitive, tight-checking game where chances are hard to come by. With both sides missing firepower, we shouldn’t expect fireworks.

Oilers vs Golden Knights same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 6.5

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Over 1.5 shots

Jack Eichel Over 2.5 shots

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins continues to pile up the shots in McDavid’s absence. RNH has recorded multiple shots on goal in nine of 10 without McDavid this season, including each of the four during McDavid’s current stint on the sidelines.

RNH has averaged 4.9 attempts per game without McDavid compared to 3.5 when the captain plays.

Difficult matchup or not, two shots isn’t much to ask from a highly talented player logging 18-20 minutes per night in an offensive role.

Going the other way, Jack Eichel has recorded at least three shots in 61% of his games this season. He’s averaged a little more volume at home, too, and is coming off a couple days of rest.

Eichel has fared well in these situations, clearing his line with room to spare in five of his past seven.
