Kraken vs Wild Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

Matt Boldy hasn't been as aggressive lately, but expect him to break out of this mini slump against Seattle and pepper it with shots.

The Xcel Energy Center plays host to tonight’s nightcap on the ice with the Seattle Kraken visiting the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday, March 19.

Minny is treading water in a Western Conference Wild-Card spot, and my Kraken vs. Wild predictions expect  winger Matt Boldy to pad the shots column in the favorable matchup tonight.

Read all about it in the NHL picks ahead.

Kraken vs Wild prediction

My best bet: Matt Boldy 4+ shots (+155 at bet365)

My analysis
It’s been a bit of a quiet run of late for Minnesota Wild winger Matt Boldy.

He’s registered a single shot in the past three games with just 10 total attempts, so we’re landing a longer number on his 4+ shots tonight.

The high-volume shooter has recorded four or more in 33 of 68 games this season and also draws the Seattle Kraken on the second leg of a back-to-back road set. There’s nothing scary about a date with the Seattle Kraken, either.

Seattle sports a 22nd-ranked 48.4 Corsi For percentage and 48.5% shot share at 5-on-5 away from home.

Additionally, I value Boldy skating with pass-first linemates Gustav Nyquist and Marco Rossi and being the No. 1 shooter on the man advantage with Kirill Kaprizov out of action.

Plus, Boldly paces the Wild in both shots (10.19) and attempts (20.25) per 60 minutes and ranks in the 99th percentile of forwards in shots on goal.

Kraken vs Wild same-game parlay (SGP)

Matt Boldy 1+ point

Marco Rossi 1+ point

Matt Boldy 4+ shots on goal

Boldy and Rossi skate together on the No. 1 line and top power-play unit, and they’ve clicked for a respectable 4.35 goals per 60 minutes this season. They’ve also been on the ice for an unsustainably low 6.7 team shooting percentage across the past three games and draw a favorable matchup against Kraken backup Philipp Grubauer tonight.

Grubauer has an NHL-low .872 SV% and -0.82 goals saved above average per 60 minutes among goalies with 1,000 minutes this season, and as noted, Seattle is playing its second road game in consecutive nights.

Finally, there’s also a sizable edge in the numbers of this same-game parlay, with FanDuel hanging a much shorter +339 price. The difference attaches a positive expected value of 25% to the bet365 +425 odds.
