The Philadelphia Flyers return home on Tuesday night to face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers are home underdogs on the NHL odds board despite Tampa Bay’s poor road record.
The Flyers are coming off back-to-back losses against the Rangers and Penguins this weekend. They were without Travis Konecny for those two games and the Flyers’ All-Star remains out tonight. Jamie Drysdale is also out after suffering a shoulder injury on Sunday afternoon.
The Lightning are looking to sweep a short Metropolitan Division road trip after beating the Islanders and Devils over the weekend. However, they’re beat up a bit themselves with Mikhail Sergachev and Tanner Jeannot out.

Lightning vs Flyers predictions
The Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the most surprising teams in the Eastern Conference this season as they sit in a playoff spot here at the end of February. A lot of that has to do with some unexpected performances from younger players.
One of those younger players that has stepped up is Owen Tippett. The former No. 10 overall pick has 36 points (21 goals) in 55 games with the Flyers this season after putting up 49 points in 77 games during his first year in Philadelphia.
Tippett has become a leader in Philly and earned himself a contract extension that’ll keep him in Orange and Black until 2032. He’s become one of the Flyers’ main triggermen along with Travis Konecny, but with Konecny out, it’s going to be Tippett taking charge tonight.
The winger is averaging nearly four shots per game (212 shots in 55 contests) and has a habit of going well over his 3.5 shots on goal prop. Tippett went Over 3.5 shots in six straight games (38 shots in total) prior to being held to just one shot in the second half of the back-to-back on Sunday.
Tippett is one of the fastest players in the league and he uses that speed to his advantage. He’s able to create chances for himself off the rush while also going to work in the offensive zone.
I’d ladder up Tippett’s shots vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at Over 4.5 (+120), Over 5.5 (+230), and even Over 6.5 (+480). Tippett had 10 shots on goal in Saturday’s home game against the Rangers — the first game Konecny missed. He also had five shots in Chicago the game prior and 10 the game before that.
My best bet: Owen Tippett Over 3.5 shots on goal (-157 at BetRivers)
Lightning vs Flyers same-game parlay
Owen Tippett is our best bet for tonight and he’s anchoring our same-game parlay as well. Don’t be afraid to go a shot or two higher if you’re looking for longer odds as Tippett has five or more shots in 20 games this season.
We’re also counting on the Flyers to bounce back at home here. The Lightning have been a different team on the road (14-15-2) than at home (18-8-3) this season. They’ve won two straight on the road, so they may be figuring something out, but this will be their third game in four nights as well.
This should be an intense battle with both teams trying not to give up too many chances. Andrei Vasilevskiy has been up and down in net this season but the veteran netminder made 32 saves on 34 shots last time out. The Flyers have been impressed with Samuel Ersson this season and he’ll get the nod after allowing a total of three goals on 46 shots in his last two outings.
This game should safely go Under 6.5 goals but we’re going with the Under 7.5 in case of a 4-3 overtime result.

Lightning vs Flyers moneyline and Over/Under analysis
The Flyers odds opened at +100 and they’ve gone up to as high as +115 (FanDuel). This is likely due to both Konecny and Drysdale being ruled out by head coach John Tortorella.
Meanwhile, the Lightning odds are now up to as high as -138 (FanDuel) but as low as -129 (BetRivers) after opening at -120. That’s getting a bit steep for a team that struggles on the road as the Bolts do.
The total opened at a flat 6 but has moved up to 6.5 at some books. You can get Over 6 (-118 via DraftKings) and Under 6 (+100 via BetMGM) or Over 6.5 (+104 via FanDuel) and Under 6.5 (-124 via BetRivers).
