Jordan Kyrou's shot production has taken as sudden dip, but our NHL betting picks believe he gets a favorable matchup for a rebound vs. the Oilers tonight. That and more in Neil Parker's Wednesday night hockey props.

There are five games on the ice this Wednesday, April 9, and all five have playoff implications with the marquee matchup featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning battling for first place in the Atlantic Division at Amalie Arena.

Here are my top NHL player props for tonight’s action.

NHL player prop bets today

Best NHL player prop bets for April 9

Nick Paul Over 1.5 shots on goal (-125 at DraftKings)

Tampa Bay Lightning winger Nick Paul has recorded two or more shots in 10 of his past 16 games and his volume is up, with his 8.5 shots and 14.02 attempts per 60 minutes during the stretch well above his 6.44 and 12.07 marks through the first 55 games of the season.

Of course, this sets up as an incredibly soft matchup, too.

Not only are the Toronto Maple Leafs playing their second road game in consecutive nights, they’ve also been a possession nightmare while surrendering shots in bunches game in and game out. Toronto has a league-low 43.5 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 while allowing the fifth-most shots per game (30.6) since action resumed following the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Brock Faber Over 1.5 shots on goal (-110 at bet365)

With the San Jose Sharks allowing the fourth-most shots per game to opposing defensemen, my NHL picks expect Minnesota Wild blueliner Brock Faber to continue his uptick in shots tonight. The go-to defenseman has two or more shots on goal in each of his past seven games with his 20 shots pacing the Wild, and his 29 attempts ranking second.

San Jose has also surrendered the second-most shots per game (33.5) while sporting a 30th-ranked 44.9 Corsi For percentage and 31st-ranked 44.4% shot share at 5-on-5 on the highway.

I also value Faber pacing Minnesota with an average of 25:22 minutes per game.

Jordan Kyrou Over 2.5 shots on goal (+100 at bet365)

St. Louis Blues winger Jordan Kyrou is in a prime spot Wednesday after recording just three shots on six attempts across his past two games against the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets. He recorded three or more shots in nine of the previous 12 contests, and the 26-year-old winger also paces the Blues with 9.79 shots and 19.44 attempts per 60 minutes.

Additionally, while it hasn’t shown up too significantly statistically, it’s hard to overlook the Edmonton Oilers missing multiple go-to players — including a pair of superstars — for the majority of their past 10 games. I expect Edmonton to be without key players again tonight, too.
