The PGA playoffs are in full swing! (sorry)

With one last event to jockey for position heading into the TOUR Championship, competition at this weekend's BMW Championship will be fierce, and PGA betting should be at a fever pitch for a non-major.

BMW Championship pre-tournament favorites

Jon Rahm appears to be in a class of his own right now, on an island atop the pre-tournament odds board at +600. The current OWGR No. 1 by a fair margin, Rahm has posted results of third, third and first in his past three events, and likely would have preceded those with another win had he not tested positive for COVID-19 and been forced to withdraw from the Memorial Tournament. Rahm also just happens to be the defending champ in this event.

Second on the odds board was Xander Schauffele at +1,600. A perennial contender on the tour, Schauffele is still searching for his first outright victory since 2019. While he has three runner-up finishes this year, he has just one Top-10 result in his past seven tournaments, so he'll be looking to round into form as the playoffs push forward.

Ascendant Collin Morikawa sits was part of a three-way tie on the BMW Championship odds board at +1,800. Morikawa had a blistering summer – including an impressive win at The Open – but missed the cut at last weekend's Northern Trust, and will be looking to bounce back.

Speaking of bouncing back, Jordan Spieth looks to close out his comeback campaign on a strong note, tied for +1,800 outright odds. Spieth has registered a number of Top-5 results on tour this year, his best season since 2017.

And rounding out the Top 5, also at +1,800, was Justin Thomas. JT has been somewhat dormant since winning the PLAYERS Championship in March, posting just one Top-10 finish (fourth last week at the Northern Trust). The 2019 BMW champ remains one of the World's top golfers, and can find his form again with ease.

Where is the 2021 BMW Championship played?

The 2021 BMW CHampionship is played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, MD. The Tom Fazio-designed course plays as a 7,226-yard par-71, with a course rating of 75.3 and slope rating of 142.

Opened in 1991, it has previously played host to the Senior Players Championship (2017) and Senior U.S. Open (2002).

Who won the BMW Championship in 2020?

2021 favorite Jon Rahm won last year's event in an absolutely thrilling finish between the World's two best golfers. Rahm drilled an incredible 66-foot birdie putt to seal a playoff victory over then-OWGR No. 1 Dustin Johnson, storming back from +2 after Round 3 to finish -4 for the tournament.

What is the BMW Championship payout in 2021?

The purse for the 2021 BMW Championship is set at $9.5 million, with the winner taking home $1.7 million.

How To Bet On PGA Tour Odds

The most popular way to bet on golf is by simply picking the winner, which is also referred to as outright. There are plenty of other ways to wager, however. Some of the more popular markets include head-to-head betting, where sportsbooks pair up two golfers and you simply choose who you think will have the lower score over the course of the weekend or for one round only.

There are also 3-way betting markets (choose the best golfer among three choices) and group betting (choose the best golfer amongst a group of players).

Other ways to wager include Top-5/Top-10/Top-20 finish, top golfer by nationality, to make the cut/to not make the cut, and the leader after each round. Then, of course, there's the popular prop bet of whether or not there will be a hole in one at the tournament.

Where can I bet on PGA Tour odds?

With PGA betting growing in popularity most online sportsbooks and casinos will offer golf odds for the BMW Championship. Check out the best sportsbooks available where you live and see what PGA Tour odds they have available.

Is that trend sustainable, or did that team benefit from opponent injuries, scheduling quirks, or garbage-time noise?"
