After upsetting the United States last time out, Panama have a real shot of advancing out of Group C and into the knockout stage of Copa America.

They’ll close out group play with a match against Bolivia — heavy Copa America odds underdogs who have lost both games so far, and are yet to score in the tournament.

Panama check in as -161 moneyline favorites for the July 1 matchup. Check out my Bolivia vs. Panama predictions below, calling for the favorites to take care of business.

Bolivia vs Panama picks, predictions, and betting tips

My best bet:
Under 2.5 (-125 at Betano)

My analysis
Panama’s easiest path to the next round is beating Bolivia. A win and the Americans — playing at the same time against Uruguay — winning would come down to goal differential, currently +2 for USA. A USA loss or tie, and Panama moves on with that victory.

Panama, ranked 45th in the FIFA World Rankings, dumped the 11th-ranked Americans 2-1 last game, one of the bigger shockers of the tournament.

They clearly benefited from the red card handed to American Timothy Weah in 18th minute, a big reason why Panama dominated the possession battle, holding the ball 73.6% of the time.

That win offsets the opener, a 3-1 thumping at the hands of Uruguay, who have won both of their matches so far.

Bolivia was on the receiving end of one those, taking a 5-0 loss to Uruguay, which came after getting dropped 2-0 by USA to kick off its tournament. The Bolivians have been dominated, handily losing the possession battle both games, while giving up seven goals and 17 shots.

Their offensive response has been non-existent, as they’ve tallied just one goal in the last six international matches played. That’s helped extend an international games struggle, as Bolivia have just two wins in the last 16 games.

They’ve generated just 10 shot attempts all tournament, with four making it on goal, while surrendering 38 shot attempts.

Panama is the better team and should leave with a win. Bolivia hasn’t been able to stop anyone, so I’m expecting goals, just not enough to push this Over the 2.5 line.

Bolivia vs Panama same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 2.5

Over 0.5 first-half goals Panama

Over 1.5 goals

Panama has tallied all three of its goals at Copa in the second half — none earlier than the 83rd minute, no less, but they won’t be playing around here with an inferior opponent.

Bolivia has found itself down within the first 10 minutes of its two previous matches. I expect Panama to get control of things early on.

We’re also wrapping the Over 1.5 goals into this 3-legged SGP because Bolivia has been set on fire in Copa America, allowing the most goals in this tournament, and at least two to both opponents.

Panama doesn’t have the firepower to blow this matchup open, but they should be able to pot two.
