My analysis
While Oliver Glasner’s appointment has been a positive change for Crystal Palace, one player in particular has been enjoying life under the new manager. Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored a goal in each of the five matches played at Selhurst Park since Glasner took the reins.
When you take a closer look, things are more impressive. Mateta has 45 touches in the opponent’s penalty area in the 10 matches since Glasner took the job, scoring eight times in the process.
Seven of those goals have come at home, and they’ve come from just 13 shots. He’s put nine of those attempts on target, and only Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak have more goals over their last five home contests than Mateta. In both his last two home outings, he’s notched a brace.
He may not need a high volume of shots to find a goal, but he’ll likely see plenty of opportunities to fire away against Manchester United. The Red Devils have conceded the fourth-most shot attempts against this season and have been very fortunate they’ve conceded the fewest goals per shot in the league.
In their draw with Burnley last weekend, they conceded 16 shots — a low number for them — but gave up just one goal. That was a penalty late in the match, despite a 2.06 xG for their opponents. Palace won the earlier meeting 1-0 despite having just eight shots, and Mateta has shown he only needs one good chance to capitalize.
Casemiro was filling in as a makeshift central defender alongside Harry Maguire, making multiple mistakes while being dribbled past twice with Maguire being much more solid in defense. But Maguire’s season might be over, meaning Casemiro will likely partner with an elderly Jonny Evans — fresh off an injury of his own.
When you consider Mateta’s form and take into account the matchup he’s facing, the odds of him scoring should be closer to +125. Luckily for us, TonyBet’s giving +150 for him to find the back of the net, and I’ll take that number all day.

While Mateta’s only taken 13 shots at home in those five matches, teammate Eberechie Eze has taken 18. He’s managed 12 shots in total over Palace’s last two matches, and I like him to get at least three against the Red Devils.
I also see Palace coming away with the win. They’re riding a three-match win streak including a win at Anfield over Liverpool, during which they’ve outscored their opponents 8-2.
Manchester United’s gutted by injuries and have limited options coming off the bench, and I think they’re ready for the season to be over. I’ll take the team at home in better form with a better attack.
