EPL predictions for Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

My best bet:
Both teams to score + Over 2.5 (-122 at Betano)

My analysis
Neither team has hit the levels needed to match their offseason ambitions but the season is still young and they need to begin to turn things around soon. We'll start by looking at the four games these teams have played to begin the season, with eyes on a particular trend.

Firstly, Palace’s four games have seen them lose their opening two fixtures before drawing their following too, leaving them on two points, with the same draw and defeat record both home and away. They’ve scored four goals and conceded seven in that timeframe.

Two of Palace’s four games cashed this Over 2.5 with the other two games falling just one goal shy. The worry for Palace is they’ve let their opposition score in every single league game, letting the BTTS land in three of their four matches.

Manchester United won their first game of the season and their most recent game against struggling Southampton but those two victories bookend two defeats to Brighton and Liverpool. They've scored five and conceded five in their games so far. The Over 2.5 landed in three of those four matches.

United are marginal favorites but they’ve failed to look coherent at times this season, particularly going forward. They’ve averaged 13.3 shots per game but they don’t seem to have a identifiable structure to how they play. They’ve also been giving up 10.3 shots per game, far too many for a team with ambitions of being in the title race.

Palace games have been far too open with 12.3 shots against per game and 14.3 shots when they attack. They’re far too open but love to commit players forward, so we should have plenty of chances for the goals needed to land this wager.

With both teams flying forward to score and leaving themselves open, this is the best bet on the board.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 2.5

Both teams to score

Eberechi Eze anytime goalscorer

First-half Over 0.5

The first leg we'll add to this SGP is for Eberechi Eze to find the back of the net. The England player has scored just once this season, plus another in the League Cup, but he'll have more opportunities considering he's averaging 4.5 shots per game.

The final leg will be for a goal in the first half. United's four games have seen five total first-half goals while Palace have given up three first-half goals in their first four matches.
