The Premier League returns to action today with one of the best league derbies as Liverpool and Everton meet at Anfield.

This game is always heated and fiery, with both teams hating their local rivals. It’s going to be close, and our Liverpool vs Everton predictions have the game finishing with Under 2.5 goals.

Premier League predictions for Liverpool vs Everton

My best bet: Under 2.5 goals (+110 at TonyBet)

My analysis
This midweek slate of Premier League games has some interesting fixtures but no game excites as much as Wednesday’s Merseyside Derby.

Entering this game, Liverpool are rightly favorites as they sit top of the Premier League table and are cruising towards their second Premier League title. They entered this week with a huge 12-point cushion and with games running out it is highly unlikely that any of their rivals can catch that. However, the Everton supporters would love to take the three points and potentially damage their rival’s season.

Everton have moved comfortably clear of the relegation zone but there’s been a lot of improvement since David Moyes replaced Sean Dyche in early January. His team has now played 10 Premier League games and lost just once, in their first game. Exactly half of their EPL games under Moyes have finished draws, including their home meeting against Liverpool and their previous four games. There’s a 50/50 split in those games of Over and Under 2.5 goals but we’re going to take Under 2.5 goals as the best bet for this game.

If you dig a little deeper, you can see that Everton have set up to keep the score close when they’re on the road. Moyes has had four league games in charge away from Goodison Park and three of those games finished with Under 2.5 goals. A look across the whole season shows that 10 of Everton’s 14 games on the road have had Under 2.5 goals.

When it comes to the game itself, we’ve got to consider how Everton will set up. Moyes will be well aware of the danger that Liverpool possess. Liverpool are only missing Trent Alexander-Arnold from their first-choice starting lineup and their attack is going to be a major concern for Moyes.

Everton are missing some good players and that means that Moyes will know that his best chance of getting something from this game is to keep the score close, defend well, and then try and grab a goal on the counterattack or from a set-piece. That means we’re more likely to see the Under 2.5 goals land. We also need to consider that Liverpool haven’t quite been at their best in recent weeks. In their last two games, they’ve exited Europe and lost the EFL Cup final. They’ve struggled in those games and four of their past six in all competitions have had Under 2.5 goals and with the opposition on Wednesday likely to want to keep this game tight, we should see a repeat with Under 2.5 goals once again.

Liverpool vs Everton same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 2.5

Mo Salah to score

Liverpool moneyline

As well as our best bet we’re taking another two legs. The first of which is for Liverpool to win. Liverpool have a great record at Anfield in the derby and have won the previous three meetings on home soil. The team is running away with the Premier League title and comfortably top of the table, we’ve seen Everton improve since David Moyes but they won’t be able to keep up with Arne Slot’s team.

The final leg of this Same-Game Parlay is for Mohamed Salah to score. He’s been in incredible form this season and has 32 games already for his club. He’s scored 27 in 29 Premier League games and given that he scored last time out, and remains his team’s best player, we should see Salah’s name on the scoresheet once again.
