With star midfielders Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne ruled out for Manchester City, Newcastle United draws a bit of a break as they prepare to host the reigning champions this Saturday in English Premier League action.
My Newcastle vs. Man City predictions are that, with the benefit of a weakened opponent, Newcastle will not leave their home grounds empty-handed.

My analysis
Newcastle started the season in fine form. Before losing to Fulham last week in West London to record their first defeat of the campaign, they earned ten points from their opening four matches. Especially when playing at home, Newcastle has looked solid, reliable, and consistent, winning against Tottenham (2-1) and Southampton (1-0) thus far.
City lost Rodri against Arsenal last week and that's major news and major trouble for the Citizens. The defending champions only saved a point thanks to an effort from John Stones, who made it 2-2 in the eighth minute of added time. The Arsenal draw followed an unusual 0-0 display against Inter Milan in Champions League play.
They need to process the news that they will be without Rodri for the foreseeable future. De Bruyne's absence doesn't help either. Newcastle is a tough away game for any team. They haven't lost a home Premier League game since January 13, when City beat them 3-2 in a classic. Newcastle were 2-1 until the last 15 minutes, when goals from De Bruyne and Oscar Bobb turned things around.
Given the context and the fact that they need to travel again midweek for a Champions League match against Slovan Bratislava, City will not be too bothered by a draw in Newcastle.
Betano has an excellent return for Newcastle winning at +420, while a draw is +345. Both are worth exploring, but I will stick by my double chance prediction at a still juicy +142 price.

This is by no means going to be a candid affair.
Expect contact, confrontations between players, and bookings. Lead referee Jarred Gillet has a reputation for splashing out cards, as he has shown at least four yellows in six of his last seven games.
Mateo Kovacic is supposed to come in and replace Rodri in central midfield. He will need to make his offensive presence felt, so backing him to record at least one shot on target allows us to round up the SGP to a nice +1200 return.
