Crystal Palace are desperate to get something out of their trip to Nottingham in order to start climbing out of the relegation zone.
Expectations were high for Palace this season but results haven't gone their way thus far. Even though they managed to keep in-demand manager Oliver Glasner, they made a step behind following a highly encouraging start under the Austrian last season. If they are to climb back to mid-table safety, they need to deliver when they meet Forest on Monday. And I believe they will.
Here are my Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace predictions and free betting picks for Monday, October 21.
EPL predictions for Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace
My best bet:
Crystal Palace double chance — Win/Draw (-179 at TonyBet)
My analysis
Crystal Palace is yet to win a Premier League match this season, as they lie 18th in the standings after seven games, on just three points. All these points came after draws and it's not unlikely that the trip Palace will be making to Nottingham on Monday evening ends differently.
The South Londoners have improved their displays lately but that didn't materialize into points. They only earned a single point from a possible nine in their last three matches. But there was life in the team and that's a big positive. Even though Palace lost to Everton and Liverpool in the last two Premier League rounds, right after a home draw to Man. United, all three matches could have had a different outcome. Palace should feel unlucky with their current situation, as they sit just two points ahead of the bottom.
There have been under 2.5 goals in each of the four encounters between Forest and Palace since the Nottingham club got back to the Premier League. Three of the four matches ended in draws, with Forest winning once.
Given that this game comes right after the international break, it's likely that both managers have injected some fresh life into their teams. They hope to have repaired at least some of the issues on display. Forest haven't won at home in their last six Premier League games so that's a bother, to say the least. They've been unconvincing and Palace is not the type of opponent who allows you to go into full flamboyant mode when you face them. At -179 via TonyBet, the double chance favoring Crystal Palace has a solid background for a decent return.
Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace same-game parlay (SGP)
This is expected to be an evenly contested game with very little space to place one of the teams on top.
Nottingham Forest have seen under 2.5 goals in six of their seven Premier League matches this season. They are a tight team, so including a limit on goals for their game against Palace makes sense. Given the importance that this result might have to both teams moving forward, you can't see that many goals in this, can you? But you can see bookings. There won't be just the situations both Forest and Palace find themselves in to fuel the combat. Referee Tim Robinson seems to love taking cards out of his pocket. In 15 of the 16 games he officiated in 2024 he showed at least four bookings, so if you want to round up your return, you could consider the over 3.5 yellows.
