Sunday’s Premier League games are headlined by the final match of the weekend, with Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest. We’re at the business end of the season and every game is helping shape how each team will look next season.
Spurs headed into this weekend fifth in the Premier League table. With a nine-point cushion between them and sixth-place Man Utd, it seems like a two-team battle with Aston Villa to secure that important fourth spot and Champions League qualification. They’re two points behind with a game in hand and come into this with three wins in their past five games.
Nottingham Forest would love to dream of Europe but instead, they’re focused on retaining their Premier League status. A 3-1 win over Fulham on Wednesday gave the club a huge boost in that fight. They’re still 17th in the Premier League table but they’re three points clear of 18th Luton with a far superior goal difference.
That win over Fulham, plus the two 1-1 draws that proceeded it, are one of the key reasons behind our best bet for this game, which is for Spurs to win and Both teams to score, at odds of +147.
Forest haven’t been free-scoring in the Premier League this year, with just 39 goals in 31 games but they’ve improved as the season has progressed and are continually scoring goals. They’ve scored a goal in 13 of their previous 14 Premier League games, with the only exception being a 1-0 defeat to league leaders Liverpool. The reality is that they’re unable to turn their goals into victories and are far too naïve defensively.
With Forest being naïve at the back but capable of scoring it plays into our hands perfectly for this bet. It’s clear that Spurs are the better team, they’ve amassed double the points this season and scored 23 more goals in one less game. They have a great record over Forest too, winning five of their past six in all competitions.
Spurs’ main problem has been that the style favored by Ange Postecoglou is one that focuses on attack over defense. It’s great to watch as a neutral but it leads to them allowing far more goals than they should.
Across their last 11 home games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, we’ve seen the opposition score in every single one, and just twice all season have the opponents not scored in games held there. Unsurprisingly they lead the Premier League for games in which both teams score, and also lead the league in home games they win, and both teams score, with 60%. It’s not a productive way to play and it’ll cost Postecoglou his job eventually but in the meantime, we need to keep using it for our advantage.

If you’re looking to bet the moneyline on this game then you have to start at the home side winning. That said, despite being very bullish on Spurs winning this fixture, you can’t back them at odds of -244. The odds imply a 70.9% chance that they win, which feels right but in the Premier League it’s never that simple, you’re best off with my best bet for the game.
If you don’t think Postecoglou’s men will win then you can get the draw at +440 or an away win for Nuno Espirito Santo, as he returns to his former club, at +580. There’s been very little from Forest in recent weeks to suggest that they can win here but with Spurs’ attacking style it’s not impossible.
If you’re backing Total Goals you can get -228 on Over 2.5 and Under 2.5 goals at odds of +190. Overs has landed in 86.7% of Spurs’ games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season and 53.3% of Forest’s games away from home. Again, it’s a bet that should land but by backing Spurs to win and BTTS, or Spurs to win and Over 2.5 goals, you could increase your winnings, given that a Spurs win is the most likely option if that total is broken.
