Monday serves us up a Premier League matchup with West Ham and Newcastle meeting at the London Stadium.

Newcastle has begun to struggle over the past few weeks and faces a difficult test at West Ham, which is why our West Ham vs. Newcastle predictions have the game finishing with Under 2.5 goals, available at plus money.

My best bet:
Under 2.5 goals (+118 at TonyBet)

My analysis
On Monday, we have a fascinating game under the floodlights, with West Ham hosting Newcastle.

On paper, this sounds like an easy away win, with Newcastle sitting just outside the Champions League spaces while West Ham is down in the bottom half of the Premier League.

For our best bet of the game, we’re backing Under 2.5 goals for a number of reasons.

We’re now eight games into Graham Potter’s tenure at West Ham, with seven of those in the Premier League.

It’s been a bit hit-and-miss so far, but after a slow start, we’ve begun to see the team look more cohesive and perform better.

Under Potter, the team has three league wins, three defeats, and a draw; however, when you consider the injuries that he's dealt with, particularly in attacking positions, that isn’t a bad record.

If you look at those seven games in the league for Potter, we’ve seen Under 2.5 goals land in five of those. The only exceptions being a 3-2 win over Fulham and a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

They’ve seen a combined four goals in their past three games against Brentford, Arsenal and Leicester.

In that timespan, they’ve kept three clean sheets, and a well-organized defense is one of the main changes that Potter has instilled in the team since his arrival.

They are now hard to beat, especially at the London Stadium, and they’ve had Under 2.5 goals in three of four league games at home since Potter arrived.

Then you look across at the opposing team and there’s Newcastle, a team who have seen Over 2.5 goals in the majority of their games this season.

However, there are reasons to think that we might see a different Newcastle this Monday.

Eddie Howe is without a number of defenders, with Lewis Hall getting ruled out for the season just days ago.

They’re already missing some experienced players at the back, and because of that, we’re going to see Newcastle really focus on keeping things tight.

There’s also the suspension of Anthony Gordon to consider, and without the 24-year-old, they simply aren’t as scary going forward.

Gordon only has 11 goal contributions to his name this season, but that doesn’t do his performances justice, and his pace would have caused West Ham’s defense issues.

Newcastle are struggling right now with four defeats in their past six Premier League games and come into this game having been dropped from the FA Cup after a defeat to Brighton.

This is a team who are looking for a spark but with the Carabao Cup final taking place next week, they’re going to be focusing on that. Which should mean Howe focuses on keeping things tight and just looking to get through this game.

West Ham vs Newcastle same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 2.5 goals

West Ham or Draw

Edson Alvarez to get Carded

In addition to our best bet we’re also going to add a double chance option, for either West Ham winning or the game to finish as a draw. Newcastle aren’t on the best run, having lost four of their past six in the Premier League, as well as being beaten in the FA Cup by Brighton.

With the Carabao Cup final taking place next weekend and the chance of silverware, that’s going to be on Newcastle’s mind, and West Ham can take advantage by getting something from this game.

The final leg of our Same-Game Parlay is for West Ham’s Edson Alvarez to get booked. The Mexican has six yellows and a red card in the Premier League this season, and in a game that will be combative in the middle of the park, we’re going to see him getting booked, just as he has in two of his past five games.
