Best Women’s World Cup player props today
Shooting her shot
We’re starting with this one over at bet365, because it’s a bad line and I’m hoping people can take advantage before it changes.
This prop is priced at -200 at FanDuel and +150 at DraftKings. In fact, her price at FanDuel is the tightest on the board.
Those prices are warranted. In Spain’s three knockout stage matches, Redondo has been firing away from their right wing.
She’s attempted at least three shots in each match, with four against both Switzerland and the Netherlands. And against the Dutch and Sweden, she played fewer than 75 minutes and still managed to reach that mark.
In their three knockout stage matches, England have allowed at least two players to attempt three or more shots. With their efforts likely being focused on Jenni Hermoso in midfield, I expect Redondo to benefit.
While she is dealing with a bit of a knock, she’s expected to start the final. Thus, to get her priced at +333 for a mark she’s hit in each match already is a gift; to get it at such an outlier is unthinkable.
In conjunction with this play, I would also ladder it with her Over 1.5 shot prop. Bet365 is offering it at +110, compared to -600 at FanDuel and -200 at DraftKings.
Alba Redondo Prop: Over 2.5 shots (+333 at bet365)
Legal Hemp
So much of England’s success has been the product of their two-headed monster in the front line. Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo have each found the back of the net three times so far during the World Cup.
Hemp has also registered an assist, as it was her pass to Russo that set up England’s third and decisive goal against Australia in the semi-final. It was one of three key passes she registered on the day, second-most on the team.
In fact, Hemp’s been a key contributor in the build-up play throughout the tournament. She’s had at least one key pass in each of their last two outings, and is averaging nearly one per match after having 2.9 per contest during the Women’s Super League season.
Spain have shown in this tournament that they can be hurt on the counter-attack, and Hemp will be involved if they are to break the Spanish high press. That’s why I’m taking her to either score a goal or assist one sometime during the match, with FanDuel offering the best price at +230 for her to do so.
Lauren Hemp prop: to score or assist (+230 at FanDuel)
Less is more
No player in this Women’s World Cup has put more shots on goal than Russo. She’s put 12 of her 22 efforts on target, three more than anybody else in the tournament and five more than anybody else on her team.
Russo is a difficult striker for any team to deal with. She’s got the fastest hat trick in England women’s history, registering one inside of 11 minutes. She’s scored 14 goals in her 28 appearances for the national team as well.
So, for her to get into space to put shots on goal against Spain won’t be the most difficult task in the world. In their match against the Netherlands in the quarter-final, Spain allowed two shots on target from Lineth Beerensteyn. While Beerensteyn is very talented, she’s not on Russo’s level.
But much like Beerensteyn, Russo is playing in a two-striker setup. This means Spain’s center backs are going to be one-on-one at times with each of them, which tends to allow for more shots on goal from strikers.
This is another value play. Russo’s price for two efforts on goal is far too high in my opinion, and I’ll gladly take it with both bet365 and FanDuel offering it at +240.
Alessia Russo prop: Over 1.5 shots on goal (+240 at bet365)
