MILWAUKEE -- Domingo Santana hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night at Miller Park.
The Pirates had won the first two games of the four-game series that concludes Thursday.
Pittsburgh right-hander Trevor Williams flustered Milwaukee hitters most of the evening, striking out a career-high seven batters.
Williams cruised through his first six innings, but leading 3-1, he gave up a single to Keon Broxton and a double to Orlando Arcia to open the seventh. Tony Watson came on to face pinch hitter Eric Thames, who drove in Broxton to make it a one-run game.
Watson struck out Eric Sogard and was replaced by Daniel Hudson.
Hudson (1-3) fell behind 2-0 and then left a fastball over the plate just enough for Santana, who connected for his 12th of the season to cap a two-hit, three-RBI day.
Arcia came up big in the ninth, snaring a John Jaso chopper at shortstop and getting the throw to first in time to lock down Corey Knebel's 11th save of the season.
The late outburst helped cover for a rough outing from Junior Guerra, who managed to hold Pittsburgh to three runs despite giving up seven hits and walking five and striking out six in six innings.
Williams was charged with three runs on six hits and two walks.
Guerra got out of a bases-loaded jam in the second with a double play, but Josh Harrison's RBI double gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead in the third. Santana knotted the score in the bottom of the inning when his single drove in Arcia.
Doubles by Adam Frazier and John Jaso in the fifth put the Pirates back in front.
Josh Bell's solo shot with two outs in the sixth gave Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead.
