CHICAGO -- Tim Anderson fell a triple shy of the cycle as he went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, and the Chicago White Sox cruised to a 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.
Right-hander Lucas Giolito notched a career-high 10 strikeouts in seven strong innings to earn the win. Chicago (54-81) claimed the rubber match of the series with its second victory in a row.
Lucas Duda hit a solo shot for the Rays. Tampa Bay (68-70) ended a nine-game road trip with a 5-4 mark.
Giolito (2-1) stymied the Rays in his third start with the White Sox. The 23-year-old allowed one run on three hits in seven innings. He threw 70 strikes on 103 pitches.
Right-hander Matt Andriese (5-2) drew the loss for the Rays in his first start since June 10. He gave up five runs on six hits in five innings.
Jose Abreu hit a two-run home run to complement Anderson's production at the plate. Alen Hanson finished 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
The White Sox jumped to a 3-0 advantage in the third inning. Anderson singled to score Hanson from second base. Abreu followed with a towering, two-run shot down the left-field line for his 27th home run.
The Rays trimmed the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the third on Duda's solo shot. The blast over the right-field wall marked Duda's 26th home run of the season and his ninth with the Rays.
In the fourth, Adam Engel hit a run-scoring double off the wall in the left-center field to make it 4-1.
Anderson ripped a solo home run -- his 15th of the season -- in the fifth. He struck again in the seventh with a double that scored Hanson to put the White Sox on top 6-1.
Kevin Kiermaier finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right field in the eighth.
