NEW YORK -- Travis d'Arnaud hit a two-run homer in the first inning, and Robert Gsellman was credited with his first complete game Wednesday night, when the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3 in a game shortened to 5 1/2 innings by rain at Citi Field.
The Mets (60-79) took two of three from the Phillies for their first series win since taking two of three against Philadelphia from Aug. 11-13.

Gsellman also delivered an RBI single in the second inning. Third baseman Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits for the Mets, including an RBI single in the first, while Brandon Nimmo lofted two sacrifice flies.
Cesar Hernandez was 3-for-3 and hit an RBI double in the sixth for the Phillies, who built their rally when Ty Kelly led off by reaching on a two-base error by Cabrera. Nick Williams added a one-out, two-run homer, his ninth of the season.
Nick Pivetta (5-10) took the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out five over five innings.
The Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Jose Reyes delivered a leadoff single, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout by Nori Aoki and scored on Cabrera's single. D'Arnaud followed with a two-run homer, his 11th long ball of the year.
The Mets scored single runs in the second, third and fifth to extend their lead to 6-0.
Dominic Smith led off the second with a double and scored on Gsellman's one-out single. Cabrera doubled leading off the third, went to third on d'Arnaud's groundout and scored on Nimmo's sacrifice fly. The Mets opened the fifth with three singles by Aoki, Cabrera and d'Arnaud before Aoki trotted home on another sacrifice fly by Nimmo.
