MILWAUKEE -- Andrew McCutchen, Starling Marte and Jordy Mercer hit home runs, and rookie left-hander Stephen Brault allowed one hit over six shutout innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates snapped their five-game losing streak with a 7-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night at Miller Park.

Brault (1-0), making his second career start, recorded more hits than he allowed, finishing with a double, a single and two RBIs.

The Brewers added two more hits late in the contest against the Pirates' bullpen but failed to move a runner into scoring position.

Brandon Woodruff (1-2) gave the Brewers five-plus innings and allowed six runs on seven hits -- including the home runs to McCutchen and Marte -- while striking out three with just one walk.

In the first inning, Woodruff allowed a one-out single to Adam Frazier and quickly found himself in a hole when McCutchen followed with his 24th home run of the season.

Woodruff retired the next six Pittsburgh batters in order but landed in a jam again in the third when Frazier drew a two-out walk, stole second and took third on a Manny Pina's botched pickoff attempt. McCutchen bounced out to end the threat.

After allowing his first runner of the game on a two-out walk to Ryan Braun in the fourth, Brault reached on a one-out double in the fifth, then scored when Marte hit his sixth home run of the year to make it a 4-0 game.

Jesus Aguilar broke up the no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth, but the Brewers couldn't do anything with it, and Brault cruised through the inning unscathed.

Woodruff gave way after the first two Pittsburgh batters reached in the sixth. Reliever Jared Hughes recorded the first out himself, tagging Josh Bell trying to score. After Elias Diaz reached on a fielder's choice, Hughes intentionally walked Mercer to face Brault with two outs. Brault responded with a bases-loaded single up the middle, driving in two more to make it a 6-0 game.

Mercer worked the count full in the eighth against Jacob Barnes before connecting on a fastball to center for his 14th home run of the season.

NOTES: Brewers manager Craig Counsell said there have been positive reports from Miami and expects to face the Marlins there this weekend, as scheduled, despite the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. ... Counsell was not ready to name a starter to replace Jimmy Nelson (shoulder) for the Wednesday game. ... Pirates RHP Joaquin Benoit left the team to attend to a family issue in the Dominican Republic, manager Clint Hurdle said. ... Hurdle had not yet announced starters for the Pirates' weekend series at Cincinnati and said he is considering skipping RHP Chad Kuhl's next turn in the rotation.
