NEW YORK -- Jose Reyes jump-started a three-run third inning with a solo homer and contributed an RBI single during a six-run fourth Monday afternoon to lead the New York Mets to a 11-7 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.
The Mets (59-78) snapped a four-game losing streak and won for just the third time in the last 10 games. The Phillies (52-85) lost for the second time in five games.
Reyes, one of just three 30-somethings in the lineup for the rebuilding Mets, went 2-for-3 with two walks. He has a 10-game hitting streak, his longest run since an 11-game streak for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015.
The Mets' other 30-somethings, Nori Aoki and Asdrubal Cabrera, followed Reyes' homer with a double and a two-run homer, respectively.
New York extended its lead to 10-0 in the fourth, when Reyes scored on a wild pitch and Gavin Cecchini (two-run single), Aoki (run-scoring groundout) and Brandon Nimmo (run-scoring single) all collected RBIs.
Nimmo added an RBI single in the sixth for the Mets, who opened the scoring on Juan Lagares' run-scoring single in the second. Nimmo finished with three hits, and Lagares and Kevin Plawecki had two hits apiece.
New York starter Rafael Montero (4-9) picked up the win after allowing four runs, five hits and five walks while striking out three in 5 1/3 innings.
The Phillies briefly made things interesting in the fifth and sixth. Cameron Rupp delivered a run-scoring groundout in the fifth before Philadelphia scored four times in the sixth, when Nick Williams raced home on a wild pitch and Hyun Soo Kim (two-run double) and Andres Blanco (RBI single) had run-scoring hits against Paul Sewald.
Freddy Galvis and Odubel Herrera each added an RBI single in the ninth for the Phillies. Kim and Blanco had two hits each.
Rookie right-hander Mark Leiter Jr. (2-5) took the loss after allowing nine runs (eight earned), nine hits and no walks while striking out two in 3 1/3 innings.
