Cincinnati's Wade Miley was battered in his first start after throwing a no-hitter, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Reds 9-6 on Friday night in Denver.
Miley, who shut down the Cleveland Indians on May 7, wound up with his shortest outing of the season Friday, three-plus innings. He gave up 11 hits and eight runs, walked three and struck out five.
Colorado's Garrett Hampson had three hits, including a home run, and Charlie Blackmon and Yonathan Daza added three hits apiece. Trevor Story and Josh Fuentes had two hits each.
Rockies starter German Marquez (2-4) tossed six-plus innings, yielding four runs on eight hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.
Daniel Bard earned his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.
Blackmon left the game in the fourth inning for an undisclosed reason.
Jonathan India homered and doubled, Eugenio Suarez also went deep and Shogo Akiyama and Tucker Barnhart had two hits each for Cincinnati.
Hampson jumped on Miley's second pitch of the game for a triple and scored on an errant pickoff attempt to first.
The Reds came back in the third. After India doubled and was picked off by catcher Elias Diaz, Miley walked and Tyler Naquin doubled. Jesse Winker knocked in the tying run with a groundout, and Mike Moustakas' RBI single made it 2-1.
The Rockies took control in the bottom of the inning. Story led off with a walk, and consecutive singles by Blackmon, Fuentes, Daza and Diaz made it 4-2. One out later, Daza scored on a sacrifice bunt by Marquez.
Colorado blew it open in the fourth. Story and Blackmon singled, and Fuentes doubled to drive in Story, ending Miley's night.
Miley (4-3) needed 89 pitches to get nine outs after throwing his no-hitter with 114 pitches.
Daza doubled off Heath Hembree to drive in Blackmon and Fuentes, increasing the lead to 8-2.
It stayed that way until the seventh when Akiyama led off with a single and India homered for the second straight night. It was his third of the season.
Marquez left after walking the next batter.
Hampson hit a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the inning, his fifth of the season. Suarez hit a two-run homer in the eighth, his seventh, to make it a three-run game.
