Right-hander Logan Webb combined with two relievers on a four-hitter and LaMonte Wade Jr. bombed a home run for the second consecutive day as the San Francisco Giants ran their winning streak to five games with a 7-0 whitewashing of the visiting Colorado Rockies on Thursday night.
Webb (6-3) helped his own cause with a two-run single and batterymate Curt Casali scored twice for the Giants, who have opened a nine-game homestand with three straight wins.
Webb allowed a second-inning single to C.J. Cron and consecutive two-out singles to Connor Joe and Ryan McMahon in the sixth during his six shutout innings. He walked two and struck out eight in extending his streak of consecutive starts without a loss to 10. The 24-year-old hasn't lost since May 5 at Colorado.
The shutout was the Giants' 13th of the season. Webb had been involved in one previously, but that came in an inning of relief in a 3-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds in April.
Jay Jackson pitched one inning and Camilo Doval two to complete the shutout. They combined for six strikeouts, allowing just one hit.
The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the second on a two-out double by Alex Dickerson, then broke the game open with a six-run fourth against Rockies starter German Marquez (10-9).
Casali ignited the big inning with an RBI double, and Webb responded to an intentional walk dealt to Dickerson with his two-run single to make it 4-0.
Wade followed with a three-run homer, his 15th homer of the season.
The utility infielder/outfielder had totaled just two homers in his first two big-league seasons for the Minnesota Twins before joining the Giants in a trade in February.
Marquez left for a pinch hitter after working four innings. He was charged with seven runs on seven hits, with two walks and six strikeouts.
Tommy La Stella also doubled for the Giants, who improved to 7-3 against the Rockies this season.
The shutout loss was the Rockies' 15th of the season, their third against the Giants.
