Bryce Harper had two hits, including a two-run homer, and the visiting Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals 7-4 on Monday night for their fourth consecutive win.
Harper, who played his first seven major league seasons with Washington, hit his 100th Nationals Park home run and seventh of the season against his former team.
Brad Miller had three hits, including a solo home run, and walked twice for the Phillies. Ronald Torreyes added a bases-loaded triple.
Carter Kieboom homered and singled for Washington.
Catcher Keibert Ruiz made his Nationals debut after being promoted from Triple-A Rochester. Obtained from the Dodgers in the Max Scherzer-Trea Turner trade, the Nationals' top prospect went 1-for-4.
Philadelphia starter Zack Wheeler (11-9) allowed four runs on five hits and four walks in six innings. He struck out four.
Jose Alvarado allowed a double and a walk to open the ninth inning before picking up his fifth save.
Washington rookie Josiah Gray (0-2) endured his worst outing, giving up six runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts in four innings. He had given up three earned runs or fewer in each of his past six starts.
Nationals shortstop Alcides Escobar left the game in the first inning after fouling a pitch off his left knee.
With one out in the first inning and Odubel Herrera on first, Harper lifted a hanging 2-2 curveball into the Nationals' bullpen for his 26th homer of the season. Andrew McCutchen, the next batter, walked and later scored on a fielder's choice to make it 3-0.
In the Washington second, Kieboom and Luis Garcia singled. After Gray bunted the runners over, Kieboom scored on a single by Lane Thomas and Garcia came home on a fielder's choice.
Harper singled leading off the third, and after a pair of walks loaded the bases with one out, Torreyes tripled off the wall in left for a 6-2 Phillies lead.
Kieboom hit his fifth homer of the season in the bottom half to pull Washington within three.
Miller homered to center in the fifth, his 14th of the year, to push the lead to 7-3.
Washington's Juan Soto led off the bottom of the fifth with a double and later scored on a Wheeler wild pitch.
