AL East rivals begin a three-game set tonight at the Rogers Centre as the Boston Red Sox visit the Toronto Blue Jays.

Garrett Crochet has been striking out hitters left and right, and I’ll explain in my Red Sox vs. Blue Jays predictions why I expect that to happen again.

Keep reading for my MLB picks for Tuesday, April 29.

Red Sox vs Blue Jays prediction

My Red Sox vs Blue Jays best bet: Garrett Crochet Over 6.5 strikeouts (+132 at bet365)

The Boston Red Sox pulled off a blockbuster trade for Garrett Crochet in the offseason, and he’s been all they could’ve asked for and more. The hard-throwing lefty is the clear ace of this Boston staff, going 2-2 in six starts with a 1.95 ERA. He’s walked 15 while striking out 44 batters in 37 innings of work.

Crochet does have control issues at times, but it’s no secret he has swing and miss stuff. The southpaw has cashed the Over in strikeouts in three consecutive outings, racking up nine, seven, and 11 Ks.

While he only had five strikeouts in a start against the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this season, Crochet owns a 0.66 ERA lifetime versus Toronto with 12 Ks in 13.2 innings. He’s also pitching better on the road with a 1.33 ERA, including 23 strikeouts in 20.1 frames.

The left-hander will miss some Toronto bats tonight.

Red Sox vs Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Garrett Crochet Over 6.5 strikeouts

Jarren Duran Over 1.5 hits

Bo Bichette Under 1.5 hits

Jarren Duran is having another impressive campaign for the Red Sox. In 29 games, he has a .276 average with one homer, eight doubles, and three triples. Duran has also driven in 14. Across a three-game series with the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend, the outfielder was 7 for 15.

Duran has cashed the Over in hits in two straight games and three of his last six. He’s 1 for 5 lifetime against Bowden Francis but has historically swung it well versus Toronto, slashing .314 in 39 games. He’ll stay hot tonight.

Bo Bichette is batting .292 this season, but he’s yet to go deep in 28 games. While he’s never been a huge power hitter, the Jays do need some home run production out of him. Regardless, we’ll focus on his hits here instead.

Bichette is just 1 for 4 lifetime against Crochet and has cashed the Under in hits in five of his last six games. Over the last few weeks, the infielder hasn’t had many multi-hit games, and there’s an elite arm on the hill tonight. The Under is a safe bet.
