Jose Caballero hit a go-ahead home run in the 10th inning after Junior Caminero's game-tying solo shot in the ninth as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays rallied for a 9-8 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
Former Dodger Jonny DeLuca had a two-run single in a four-run first inning as Tampa Bay improved to 3-3 on its 10-game West Coast road trip. Caminero had three hits in his 11th game of the season and hit a home run for the second consecutive night.
Shohei Ohtani hit a home run for the Dodgers, one game after he joined the 40-40 club with a game-ending grand slam in a victory over the Rays. Teoscar Hernandez and Miguel Rojas also hit home runs as the Dodgers saw their five-game winning streak come to an end.
Los Angeles left-hander Clayton Kershaw gave up four runs in the first inning and ended up allowing five runs in five innings in his sixth start of the season.
The Rays jumped on Kershaw early when Caminero delivered an RBI single three batters into the game. Christopher Morel followed with an RBI double, and DeLuca had his two-run single.
The Dodgers pulled to within 4-3 in the fourth inning, getting an RBI double from Mookie Betts to score Ohtani. Two batters later, Hernandez hit a two-run home run to center field, his 27th of the season.
The Rays added a run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from Josh Lowe.
The Dodgers moved in front with a three-run fifth. Rojas singled to score Max Muncy, and Ohtani tucked his two-run home run just inside the right field foul pole.
The Dodgers went up 7-5 in the seventh inning when Rojas hit a solo home run, his fourth.
The Rays got a run back in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly from Yandy Diaz and Caminero hit a home run in the ninth against Evan Phillips to tie it 7-7. Caballero's home run came against Joe Kelly (1-1).
Rays left-hander Garrett Cleavinger pitched the 10th inning for his fourth save. Tampa Bay right-hander Manuel Rodriguez (3-3) pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the win.
