Arizona @ Colorado preview
Coors Field
Last Meeting ( Apr 5, 2014 ) Arizona 4, Colorado 9
Left-hander Brett Anderson makes his Coors Field debut Sunday when the Colorado Rockies try for a three-game sweep against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Anderson, a sinkerballer who also possesses an effective slider, will need those pitches and more to succeed with the thin air and big gaps at his new hitter-friendly home park. Health is also an issue for Anderson, who pitched only 450 2/3 innings in five seasons entering 2014, with 175 1/3 coming in his rookie year of 2009.
The Diamondbacks counter with Wade Miley, who is 6-0 with a 2.56 ERA lifetime against the Rockies - including 2-0, 3.94 at Coors Field. Colorado erased a four-run deficit to rout Arizona 9-4 on Saturday behind a pair of solo home runs by Nolan Arenado and a two-run blast by Michael Cuddyer. The Rockies' Charlie Blackmon followed up Friday's 6-for-6 performance with a 3-for-4 night Saturday while the Diamondbacks are 1-7 - the worst start in franchise history.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks LH Wade Miley (1-1, 5.25 ERA) vs. Rockies LH Brett Anderson (0-1, 4.50)
Miley settled down after allowing four runs in the first inning Tuesday and retired 15 in a row at one point before leaving after seven innings and earning a 5-4 victory over San Francisco. "That's the sign of your good pitchers ... and your good ones never give in," Arizona general manager Kevin Towers told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. "Even if they give up runs early, they try to shut the door from there and give your team a chance to still win.'' The 27-year-old Hammond, La., native, undrafted out of Southeastern Louisiana, struggles against Carlos Gonzalez (7-for-15, home run) but is successful against Troy Tulowitzki (2-for-10) and Michael Cuddyer (2-for-11).
Anderson, acquired in a trade with Oakland in December, lost his Colorado debut, a 4-3 decision at Miami on Tuesday when he yielded four runs (three earned) and five hits in six innings. The 26-year-old Midland, Texas, native, who hasn't made more than 19 starts since 2010 largely because of arm and foot injuries, has never faced Arizona. Anderson, though, is healthy again and told the Denver Post in spring training: "I love pitching, and I am beyond fresh and ready to go."
WALK-OFFS
1. Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt went 0-for-2 with two walks Saturday as his hitting streak ended at 26 games.
2. Justin Morneau (7-for-21) has a five-game hitting streak to start his Rockies career.
3. Blackmon tied a team record with nine hits in two games, first set by Juan Pierre in 2002.
