Last Meeting ( Apr 4, 2014 ) Seattle 0, Oakland 0

Felix Hernandez struck out 11 in his season debut and attempts to follow it up with another strong outing when the Seattle Mariners visit the Oakland Athletics on Saturday. Hernandez allowed two earned runs and four hits in six innings to claim the victory as he strives to improve on last season’s 12-10 record. Friday’s game between the two teams was postponed when the field was unplayable due to the grounds crew not putting the tarp on the field after Thursday’s game.

The Athletics are confident the field will be playable on Saturday but there concerns expressed by the Mariners so a decision was reached to play just one game and not attempt to play a doubleheader. “That’s probably the worst conditions I’ve seen in all my years in baseball. It’s not safe,” Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon told reporters after the postponement. “It was just a safety issue more than anything. They made the right decision.” Oakland won Thursday’s series opener 3-2 behind Coco Crisp’s walk-off homer in the 12th inning.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
