Last Meeting ( Apr 4, 2014 ) Arizona 2, Colorado 12

Left-hander Jorge De La Rosa vows he'll be on the same page with catcher Wilin Rosario when the Colorado Rockies host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. De La Rosa had issues with Rosario over switching signs in spring training, and it spilled into Monday when he lost his temper during Colorado's 10-1 loss at Miami. A mound meeting got so contentious, pitching coach Jim Wright had to defuse the situation as De La Rosa motioned for Rosario to get back behind the plate.

Arizona counters with Brandon McCarthy, who left with the lead Monday against San Francisco before the bullpen squandered it in a 9-8 loss. The Rockies won Friday's opener of the three-game series 12-2 as Charlie Blackmon tied a team record with six hits while contributing a two-run homer and five RBIs, and Carlos Gonzalez delivered a two-run shot and two-run triple. The Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt has a 26-game hitting streak and is 12-for-29 to start the season.

PITCHING MATCHUP: RH Brandon McCarthy (0-0, 6.75 ERA) vs. Rockies LH Jorge De La Rosa (0-1, 10.38)

McCarthy yielded five runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings against the Giants and thought he had Ehire Adrianza struck out to end the seventh before Adrianza delivered an RBI double. The 30-year-old was 0-1 with a 6.60 ERA in three starts against Colorado in 2013, earning a no-decision in his only start at Coors Field. The Rockies' roster is hitting .375 against McCarthy, with Justin Morneau (7-for-18), and Troy Tulowitzki and Rosario (combined 9-for-18, one homer apiece) doing most of the damage.

De La Rosa yielded five runs - all in the fifth inning - against the Marlins and met with Rosario on Tuesday and Wednesday in an effort to smooth things over with his young catcher. "The whole thing with pitching is you have control of the situation,'' Wright told reporters. "The situation cannot control you." De La Rosa is 8-5 with a 2.40 ERA in 20 appearances against Arizona - 2-2, 2.38 in four starts last season - with Goldschmidt 3-for-11 with a home run and four RBIs against the 32-year-old.

WALK-OFFS

1. Diamondbacks 3B Martin Prado left Friday's game in the sixth inning after getting spiked in the left hand when tagging out Blackmon during a stolen-base attempt. Prado suffered a laceration which did not require stitches and is day-to-day.

2. Colorado's Michael Cuddyer, who won the 2013 National League batting title with a .331 average, is off to a 10-for-22 start after beginning last season 5-for-22.

3. Arizona (1-6) is off to its worst start since 1998.

PREDICTION: Diamondbacks 9, Rockies 8

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
