New York @ Philadelphia preview
Citizens Bank Park
Last Meeting ( Sep 20, 2012 ) Philadelphia 16, NY Mets 1
The Philadelphia Phillies were hoping to regain their dominance on the mound this season after some ordinary results in 2012. Thus far, things have not gone according to plan. Philadelphia looks to Roy Halladay to end a rough stretch when it hosts National League East rival New York on Monday night. Phillies starters had a 5.59 ERA in their first turn through the rotation and No. 1 starter Cole Hamels only made it worse in a 9-8 loss to Kansas City on Sunday.
Hamels gave up eight earned runs for the first time in his career and has been reached for 13 in just two starts as Philadelphia has started the season 2-4. The Mets, meanwhile, are 4-2 and have held opponents to four runs or less in all but one game. Additionally, they have loads of momentum after a dramatic 4-3 win over Miami on Sunday. New York, which trailed 3-0 entering the fifth, chipped away before stealing the victory with a two-run single by Marlon Byrd in the bottom of the ninth.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Matt Harvey (1-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Roy Halladay (0-1, 13.50)
Eleven starts into his major league career, Harvey is rolling. He made a memorable splash in a late-season stint in 2012 and picked up right where he left off by dominating the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Harvey yielded just one hit and fanned 10 in seven scoreless frames as New York picked up an 8-4 win and sent the 24-year-old soaring into an intriguing matchup with Halladay. A former third-round pick, Harvey has never opposed Halladaybut did outduel Hamels last Sept. 19 and won at Citizens Bank Park with 6 1/3 solid innings three weeks earlier.
Halladay certainly remembers the days when he was a young, hard-throwing righty with a bright future ahead. There is growing concern, however, that he's on the definitive downside of a fantastic career. After a subpar 2012 in which he posted a 4.49 ERA - a career high for a full season as a starter - he lasted just 3 1/3 innings in a loss to Atlanta on Wednesday, giving up five runs on six hits and three walks. Amazingly, nine of the 10 outs he recorded came via the strikeout, so the stuff may still be there. Also, Halladay is 9-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 12 career starts against New York.
WALK-OFFS
1. Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy had two home runs, a triple and five RBIs in the three-game series against the Marlins.
2. Halladay has lasted a total of only 10 innings in his last three starts dating to last season. He has given up 16 runs in the process.
3. Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has a home run, a double and a walk in six plate appearances against Harvey.
PREDICTION: Mets 5, Phillies 3
