Cincinnati @ St. Louis preview
Busch Stadium
Last Meeting ( Apr 8, 2014 ) Cincinnati 5, St. Louis 7
If the Cincinnati Reds want to challenge in the rough-and-tumble National League Central Division, they better figure out a way to beat the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis on Wednesday will look for its fifth victory in six meetings this season with Cincinnati when it tries for a three-game sweep of the Reds. The Cardinals even spotted Cincinnati an early four-run lead Tuesday before storming back for a 7-5 victory as all five games with the Reds have been decided by one or two runs.
Peter Bourjos started the season 0-for-13 but St. Louis' new center fielder is 5-for-9 in the last two games with four runs scored after collecting three hits Tuesday. The Cardinals continued their dominance of Cincinnati by clinching their 26th series victory against only three series losses and two splits versus the Reds since 2003. Cincinnati's Mike Leake lost his opener after a breakout 2013 season and will oppose Shelby Miller, who is happy to face any team other than the Pittsburgh Pirates.
