New York @ Colorado preview
Coors Field
Last Meeting ( Apr 16, 2013 ) NY Mets 4, Colorado 8
The New York Mets got a taste of winter over the weekend in Minnesota, so what they are dealing with in Colorado won't be too much of a shock to their system. The Mets and Rockies are scheduled to play a day-night doubleheader Tuesday after Monday's game was postponed because of snow, which had provided a three-inch blanket on the Coors Field playing surface by mid-afternoon. Tuesday's forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of snow turning to rain.
New York, which won the first two games against the Twins in very cold conditions before Sunday's game was postponed, has accumulated 69 runs during its 7-4 start. Catcher John Buck has been the poster boy for the Mets' potent offense with six homers and 19 RBIs. The Rockies are 8-4, with six of the victories coming in a pair of three-game sweeps over struggling San Diego. Colorado leads the majors with 21 home runs.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Jeremy Hefner (0-2, 6.00 ERA) vs. Rockies LH Jeff Francis (1-1, 5.87)
Left-hander Aaron Laffey was scheduled to start Tuesday, but manager Terry Collins indicated Monday that Hefner could get the ball instead. With further weather problems possible, Collins said he might prefer to keep Laffey - his No. 5 starter - in reserve. Hefner allowed five runs in the first inning in New York's 7-3 loss at Philadelphia on Wednesday after yielding one run in six innings against Miami. Hefner has never faced the Rockies or any of their players.
Francis was rocked for seven runs (four earned) and seven hits in 1 2/3 innings in Colorado's 10-0 loss at San Francisco on Wednesday. He was sharp against light-hitting San Diego in the Rockies' home opener April 5 when he allowed one run in six innings. Francis received a no-decision in his last start against the Mets when he allowed one run in five innings at New York on Aug. 22. David Wright is 6-for-13 with three solo homers and four walks against Francis.
