New York @ Colorado preview
Coors Field
Last Meeting ( Apr 15, 2013 ) NY Mets 0, Colorado 0
The New York Mets got a taste of winter over the weekend in Minnesota, so what they are dealing with in Colorado won't be too much of a shock to their system. The Mets and Rockies are scheduled to play a day-night doubleheader Tuesday after Monday's game was postponed because of snow, which had provided a three-inch blanket on the Coors Field playing surface by mid-afternoon. Tuesday's forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of snow turning to rain.
New York, which won the first two games against the Twins in very cold conditions before Sunday's game was postponed, has accumulated 69 runs during its 7-4 start. Catcher John Buck has been the poster boy for the Mets' potent offense with six homers and 19 RBIs. The Rockies are 8-4, with six of the victories coming in a pair of three-game sweeps over struggling San Diego. Colorado leads the majors with 21 home runs.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Dillon Gee (0-2, 7.71 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Juan Nicasio (1-0, 4.91)
Gee allowed seven runs and 10 hits, including three homers in a five-pitch span, in three innings - the shortest start of his career - in an 8-3 loss at Philadelphia on April 9. The 26-year-old Cleburne, Texas, native, who was scheduled to start Sunday in Minnesota, was solid in his season debut when he allowed a run and three hits over 6 1/3 innings in a 2-1 loss to San Diego. Gee defeated the Rockies at Coors Field last season in his only career start against them.
Nicasio escaped with a no-decision in Tuesday’s 9-6 setback at San Francisco after yielding four runs and five hits in five innings. The 26-year-old is scheduled to make his first start at Coors Field since suffering a season-ending knee injury June 2. Nicasio, who has never faced the Mets, has fared much better at home (6-3 with a 4.30 ERA in 14 starts) than he has on the road (1-4, 5.08, 12 outings). The only Met that Nicasio has faced is Buck (0-for-3, strikeout).
