Last Meeting ( Apr 18, 2013 ) St. Louis 4, Philadelphia 3

The Philadelphia Phillies attempt to uncork their struggling offense when they host the St. Louis Cardinals in Friday’s second contest of a four-game series. Philadelphia has scored three or fewer runs in seven consecutive games and has lost four straight contests after falling 4-3 in Thursday’s opener. The Phillies haven’t drawn a single walk during their losing skid and are just the fourth National League team since 1935 to go four consecutive contests without one.

St. Louis has won six of its last eight games. Outfielder Carlos Beltran hit the tiebreaking homer in the eighth in the opener and catcher Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with a two-run double. Molina is 9-for-23 over the last six games. Philadelphia had 13 hits on Thursday, its second-best output of the season. First baseman Ryan Howard went 3-for-4 but has just one homer in 62 at-bats. Roy Halladay looks to put together his second straight strong outing.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
