Milwaukee @ San Diego preview
PETCO Park
Last Meeting ( Mar 24, 2013 ) Milwaukee 4, San Diego 6
After a three-game sweep of one team scuffling on offense, the Milwaukee Brewers hope to take advantage of an opportunity to face another team whose bats have been quiet when they travel to San Diego to begin a three-game series with the Padres on Monday. San Diego was swept in a three-game set at San Francisco over the weekend and has not scored a run in its past 21 innings. The Padres have lost five of their six home games.
Milwaukee is coming off a home sweep of the Chicago Cubs, who managed only seven runs in the series. The Brewers, meanwhile, have slugged 13 home runs during their seven-game winning streak. The Brewers hope their bats stay hot — or at least hotter than they were the last time they visited Petco Park. The Padres won two of three in Milwaukee's visit last May and shut out the Brewers in the final two games of the series.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Kyle Lohse (0-1, 2.70 ERA) vs. Padres RH Jason Marquis (1-1, 2.41)
Missing spring training hasn't negatively affected Lohse, who has turned in quality starts in all three of his outings. He hasn't gotten much run support, though, and is still in search of his first win. Lohse is 3-4 with a 4.97 ERA in nine starts against the Padres, including a 1-3 mark in four outings at Petco Park.
After some sloppy defense and tough luck kept him out of the win column in his first two starts, Marquis broke through last time out against the Dodgers, pitching into the eighth and allowing one run on three hits for his first win since Aug. 11. Marquis is 6-11 with a 5.53 ERA in 23 games (20 starts) against the Brewers.
WALK-OFFS
1. Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun has homered in three of the past four games with eight RBIs over that span. He is 11-for-22 with five doubles against Marquis.
2. Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is riding a six-game hitting streak after getting a day off Sunday. Lucroy is 3-for-8 with a homer against Marquis.
3. Padres 3B Chase Headley is 3-for-13 (.231) with four strikeouts against Lohse.
PREDICTION: Brewers 5, Padres 2
