Yankee Stadium

Last Meeting ( Apr 26, 2013 ) Toronto 4, NY Yankees 6

Injuries are piling up just as quickly as wins for the New York Yankees, who host the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday in the resumption of their four-game series. New York has opened with consecutive victories over Toronto - giving it four wins in five tries against the Blue Jays in 2013 - but lost two key players in Friday's game. Facing the loss of starting catcher Francisco Cervelli (hand) and starter Ivan Nova (elbow), New York sends ace CC Sabathia to the hill Saturday.

With Michael Pineda still on the shelf following last year's shoulder surgery and none of the Yankees' prospects ready for the big time, the pitching staff faces even more pressure to stay healthy and productive. Sabathia has done both, throwing at least seven innings in each of his last four starts. He'll face off against fellow left-hander J.A. Happ, who continues to make a push for a spot in the rotation even after Ricky Romero returns from his minor-league assignment.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, RSN (Toronto), YES (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays LH J.A. Happ (2-1, 3.68 ERA) vs. Yankees LH CC Sabathia (3-2, 3.34)

Happ responded to consecutive shaky outings with his best performance of the season, limiting Baltimore to an unearned run on four hits over six strong innings. He settled for a no-decision in the 2-1 Orioles victory, but showed good command (two walks against six strikeouts) and didn't allow a homer. The 30-year-old is 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA lifetime against the Yankees. He last faced them Aug. 29, 2012, allowing four runs on four hits with five walks in an 8-5 victory.

Sabathia has enjoyed pitching against Toronto in his career, sporting a 13-4 record with a 2.98 ERA. He has won six of seven decisions against the Blue Jays since joining their AL East rival. One of the secrets of his recent success: shutting down Toronto's big boppers. Edwin Encarnacion is a career 8-for-32 hitter with zero home runs off Sabathia, while Jose Bautista has just one hit in 19 career at-bats with eight strikeouts.

WALK-OFFS

1. 2B Robinson Cano is the only player in the Yankees' lineup to have a home run against Happ.

2. The Yankees (32) and Blue Jays (31) rank 1-2 in homers among American League teams.

3. Sabathia went 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts against Toronto in 2012.

PREDICTION: Yankees 4, Blue Jays 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
