Last Meeting ( Apr 27, 2013 ) Colorado 2, Arizona 3

The Arizona Diamondbacks have found the fastest way to make up ground on the National League West-leading Colorado Rockies — by beating them. Arizona will try to claim three of four in the series and pull even atop the division standings when the teams wrap up their weekend set Sunday at Chase Field.

The Diamondbacks won 3-2 in 10 innings Saturday to improve to 6-0 in extra-inning games and 7-4 in one-run contests. Four of the teams' six meetings this season have been decided by one run. Arizona has won four of five despite scoring only three runs in each of its past four games. The Rockies have lost five of seven since an eight-game winning streak.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Jon Garland (2-1, 4.68 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Patrick Corbin (2-0, 1.71)

Garland recorded quality starts in his first three outings, winning two of them, but was hit hard last time out against Atlanta. The Braves tagged him for six runs on 10 hits in six innings, including three home runs, as he suffered his first loss. Garland, who made 27 starts for the Diamondbacks in 2009, is 3-3 with a 4.60 ERA in eight starts against his former team.

Corbin has been terrific, notching quality starts in all four of his outings, and he could easily be 4-0 if not for the bullpen losing late leads the last two times he pitched. He is making his second home start and held the Dodgers scoreless for six innings in his first outing at Chase Field. The Rockies have given Corbin fits, as he's 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in three starts against them.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rockies CF Dexter Fowler is 4-for-5 with a double and a triple against Corbin, and 1B Jordan Pacheco is 5-for-8 with a double against him.

2. Diamondbacks RF Gerardo Parra is riding a career-high 12-game hitting streak, the longest active streak in the National League. Parra is 3-for-10 with a double against Garland.

3. Arizona CF A.J. Pollock snapped out of a 1-for-18 slump Saturday, going 3-for-5 with a homer and scoring the winning run.

PREDICTION: Diamondbacks 4, Rockies 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
